Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

battery amps are fine with a bac4000 since the surron motor is a bitch. but phase amps on a bac4000 is pretty "similar" to the stock controller only. bac8000 is overkill simply because with 800+ phase amps your surron motor overheats in a minute. theres nothing inbetween. But for a QS Mid...

Make sure to have a fast acting fuse in series when you first transition from running it from a current limiting DC power supply to a battery. I'm excited to see how your project goes, good luck and don't lose heart if you have a few PCBA's erupt in plasma in the debug process. :bolt: :bigthumb:

Re: Paper or Plastic ... O-ring gasket for cylindrical lithium ion cells

Paper/fiber washers generally have the best mechanical cut-through resistance and vibration chaffing performance. That said, if not protected from humidity they often will absorb water and act as a porous electrolyte bridge between different voltages in a pack, promoting easier corrosion induced fai...

Re: Sur Ron Storm Motor + Different Controllers Problem

Draining the pack rapidly with a big motor and controller while not making big torque/power is a signature of having a false-positive all combo as Fetcher suggested. There's a couple that will rotate in the intended direction at a greatly reduced torque, but they aren't the combo with mechanically o...

If you have unlimited size and weight and budget, its easy enough to do. If you want to make it small and light and efficient, its a tricky objective. GREETINGS, CAN YOU POINT ME IN THE DIRECTION OF A COMPARABLE controller in 2021? Probably out of my league...
Keep an eye on it Nick. I could see the first couple being pricey, but I bet they go for under $20-35k depending on the wreck damage. In many ways it's an incredible bargain.

Re: Tesla model S plaid motor 30 lbs, 400 hp perfect high power ebike motor?

The crazy thing is, the existing model S chassis is much lower drag than any of the old MGs or similar small older cars. It's lower drag and less energy to move the model S chassis around than my 2001 Honda Insight, which had none of the utilitarian function, interior space and passenger space all s...

Re: Rebuilding a 6kW Ebike - need advice re. controller (Sevcon Dragon8)

Dragon 8 is a nice platform you would be glad to be running. Highest current density switched per package of any of the Sevcon/Borg options makes its burst power to mass ratio nice for LEVs. Tuning it is not going to be very easy, but we've seen a few folks pull it off here with the Gen4 platform th...

I will be very interested to see how this goes. LFP was a fan of lower volts and the highest possible amps... Who was LFP ? Im LFP. Current is an EV's friend when you're good at making low resistance bussing and joints. 20S makes best use of the 100Vds MOSFET Silicon die switching power density. It...

I realize depending on a person's living location they may or may not see many Teslas on the road around them. Here in SoCal though, it's Teslas in all directions. I see the remaining ICE automakers in a mad scramble to try to catch Tesla, but I don't see it happening. They have internal frictional ...
