Re: Electric Roadster

As long as you use the "alternate" right turn signal and not the original one, you will keep your arms. I've been using them since about 1976, on motorcycles first and now bicycles. The original version of the right turn was worthless anyway: 9 out of 10 people think you are waving at the...

Re: Vespa PX125 (Large Frame) Electric Conversion.

I'm jealous of all the storage compartments you have for fitting the various EV gadgets. I just got the contactor in the mail and it's way larger and heavier than I imagined. Not sure where I will put it. Plus, I have room on the engine side (right) that can accommodate another 38ah battery. :D htt...

Jim I am just now new to this forum and admiring your work I am impressed. I choose the easier way to convert my '61 VBB and bought the complete kit from my friend in the UK he's been working on this for the last 5 years and the results are good I happen to install 2X 64v 28AH 1800W mounted under l...

Re: Electric Roadster

Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to outline the steps. The manual is definitely not perfectly clear.

I will let you know if I have issues, and how it works out!

Thanks again!

Re: Electric Roadster

That is looking outstanding. Happy it works now.

My next step is calibrating the controller, and frankly I am nervous. Did you use full battery power to power the controller for calibration? I wish there were a video showing the process, but I can't find one, just the manual to do it.

Re: Vespa PX125 (Large Frame) Electric Conversion.

Nothing glamorous, just installed the centerstand and traced every wire, checked them all to make sure they didn't ground to the body, or mix 12V and 72V in any way, then buttoned it up in the back. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1024x768q90/923/H53WmK.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1024...

Re: Electric Motorcycle and ATV questions (QSMotors)

QSmotors are very high quality. Your "problem" is that you are spoiled by the 600cc bike you have to compare with! Assuming you would be willing to invest in something that will perform much less than a Zero motorcycle I'd go with the latest V4 12kW QSmotor 17" hub. See: https://www....

Re: Yamaha YZF250F

Your chain, with the proper tension, will be fine without a tensioner. There are lots of examples of chains under much more stress that go over 100K miles without a tensioner, and yours will not be that stressed. I think it is a great design, especially if it runs in oil.

Another concern with the situation, different from small drones, is the loading on the bearings. Even assuming the propeller is perfectly balanced, the prop is going to put an undesigned for load on the bearings as it pulls the shaft forward, not just rotationally.

Not much done. A fresh coat of paint on the "forks", and placement of the fuse block panel. Plus a shot of the rear wiring upright. Once the fork is installed I can install the headset and wire it up. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1024x768q90/923/0DDdR3.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack...
