Re: Controller upgrade from Sabvoton 72150 recommendations.

Also, reading about your voltage sag it seems that something might be off. It seems like you’re getting too much sag for those cells. Did you build the battery? This could also has something to do with acceleration/wheelies

Re: Controller upgrade from Sabvoton 72150 recommendations.

That’s your problem, your rated phase amps are way too low. Well, way too low for performance and power wheelies. On my stealth bomber build I keep the rated phase amps 350 when I have the dc amps at 150. You’ll definitely loop out at those settings if you’re not careful. For higher TopSpeed, have y...

Re: Can anyone identify this Hub Motor?

Your settings will be based off what your battery can output, not what the motor can receive. The real question is, what battery are you working with? Your battery specs will determine most of your settings, not so much what the motor can receive. Edit: Also, this thread section on the form is more ...

Re: My ebike caught on fire.

Would worry more about having good safety practices when handling, using batteries from all vendors. Or not ignoring the warning signs. Seems like the pack was providing pretty clear signs that something was wrong, but the solution of charging for days unattended to "fix" it, seemed like ...

Re: RMZe my first attempt to electricity

That battery looks good! But you cut the frame for the battery making it a lot weaker. I personally would never jump a frame cut like that. I just noticed that! I guess he could make new supports that go around the outside of the battery box and weld it back together. Or maybe that’s what he plans ...

Re: My econo-e-bike

Yup, I think I'm at my upper limit for weight. Any more and lifting the bike or flipping it over for maintenance becomes a challenge. Hopefully now that the spokes are more evenly tensioned, I won't see more of them. Yeah makes sense. Good point about the weight be a factor while doing maintenance ...

Re: My econo-e-bike

Hmm, almost like I had imagined it, but looks like it requires two spoke lengths to accomplish. Conceptually, it looks like a good compromise though. What if you ran a moto rim with your hub, like a 19” pro wheel 1.40”?? I’m Guessing you don’t because of weight right? But yeah, would solve the spok...

Re: My econo-e-bike

I think the failure may be related to the amount of spoke bend there is with a one cross pattern and 24" rim. Yeah sounds like the spoke angle is to much with the large hub + plus small rim. Have you considered slightly drilling out the spoke hole “angle” in the rim to create a better angle fo...

Feels good to get that fixed!! Only took a few hours to disassemble and rebuild the wheel.

Re: New Enduro/clone build

Also note, the spokes were a few millimeters too short from the last wheel build, so I ordered slightly longer spokes this time to have a better thread overlap between the nipples and spoke threads. If anybody’s curious with the QS205 16 inch pro wheel you need 93mm 10ga spokes :thumb: A couple mil...

Re: New Enduro/clone build

Time for a wheel rebuild! I broke 8 spokes on my last hard enduro ride :P The new suspension on this bike allows me to ride much harder through sketchy terrain but that’s partial of the reason I broke the spokes. The previous ride I had a flat, so the rim was spinning inside the tire for miles tryin...

Re: My econo-e-bike

I replaced the rear pads today, and saw that I needed to adjust the caliper mount a little more. There was a very small lip that wasn't contacting the rotor, and as the pad wore, Yep, I get this issue as well, Time to time if I don’t position the brake pads, right dead center on the the rotors. Or ...

Re: Yamaha YZ250F

I didnt do it myself, I left it to a professional. I think the spokes is not very tight though :? So the spokes are not tight, but does the wheel spin true without the tire? If so, you could use a wrench and turn each spoke nipple equally a quarter or half turn to tighten the wheel up. You wouldn’t...

Re: Ebike fire

The guy that builds TOB Bike is named Mike. I’ve watched his YouTube channel for a while now. He seems like a solid dude. Hopefully he replaces that person’s bike! I’ve chatted with Mike briefly about his battery but I can’t remember the specs. He builds the battery himself, and also the frames. I w...

Re: New Enduro/clone build

Cut the bracket with a 3” blade Dremel saw. Then lots of filing to shape and give a profile. Still need to profile more then sand-paint. The seat height is around 34” now! I can adjust the mounting bracket to raise the seat around 1” if needed. Did some testing in the neighborhood felt really good. ...

Been reading your posts from the start. Your bike has come a long way, seems you have tackled any and all issues. Job well done. Thank you Sir! Yeah this bike has come a long way! Re: New Enduro/clone build

+1 on the shock. I did the same a year ago. First I tried an idea of 2 air shocks that really worked well, but, they needed constant topping up and I got a bit fed up with it. So, I sized and fitted a pit bike shock with remote reservoir. No, very nice ride and handles the QS273 well. nice, thanks ...

Re: New Enduro/clone build

So the forks feel way stiffer but yet plush... Plush-- I see that word used a lot when describing suspension forks but not sure what it means. :? What does it mean? For me, when I say plush, it means the suspension is very smooth. There’s no stiction or friction but it doesn’t necessarily mean soft...

Re: New Enduro/clone build

As you can see in the pic, it’s sitting a little high in the rear. It rides ok like this but for off-road the rear needs to be lower. Plan to start making the top mount for shock today, thinking of lower the rear approximately 40mm Seat height as of now is 37” with 280mm rear shock. Bike weight is 1...
