Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa
First of all: I made a mistake when i posted the link to the controller manual this is the correct one: https://kellycontroller.com/wp-content/uploads/kls-nm/KellyKLS-N-UserManualV2.7.pdf (I thought you were using a KSL instead of a KLS, little difference in the name, but big in the what are they.....

Re: Electric Roadster
Looks awesome.
Too bad you are in Shanghai....
I am imagining some kind of battery cover for my Bultaco, too -
in my mind it would be something like what you made there,
just continuing the form of the former gas tank downwards.
(rough sketch)

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa
I got a reply from QS. Very interesting. Here a quote of the most important parts: " We're Taizhou Quanshun Motor Co., Ltd., QS Motor in short, now our company name change to Taizhou Quanshun Electric Drive Technology Co., Ltd. SiAECOSYS (SIA in short) is the sub-brand of QSMOTOR, who focus on ...

Re: Yamaha XS400 conversion
I don't think so, because eventually the rotor would lock up and the tire would skid. The torque would never go above the amount required to lock up the rear wheel. With a sprocket the torque can go higher. I think, "amberwolf" is right. As a general rule, in a street legal vehicle, brake...

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa
And one more question: Can anyone explain me, what this "3 Speed Switch" on the throttle is supposed to do? In the Kelly Controller Manual, I find this: "(23)Three Gears switch: It is used for function of F-N-R control. Please check the wiring diagram in the manual for F-N-R control.&...

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa
How shall I know which of the 6 cables of the display serves which purpose? You need them to tell you what is what in that, else there is many chances you destroy it during process. Probably you got this connections: - Ground - Positive (Here it will read if the vehicle is on/off and battery state)...

Re: Voltage selection
Thanks for the great reply
As for my question:
Yes, the controller and motor just work with whatever they get from the battery.
(of course within their specifications)
I tried it with 48 V and 60 V until now.

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa
Now, after I got the controller/motor/throttle combo working, I received an email from QS, confirming that I just need to put together the 6 wire plugs of Motor and Controller, regardless of the wire colors... They also answered my question about the display, but not as I wished. I am quoting: "...

Re: Should the charger be "on-board" or not?
I will not fix a charger to my planned build. I suppose, in most cases I will not need (or have the possibility ) to charge if I am not at home. IF there will be need and opportunity, I will simply take my charger with me. All my bicycles and motorbikes (electric or not) have a place where I can tra...

I also think the points " thoroughbred " made about the "NC" and "B+" connectors are reasonable. Indeed the screw labelled "B+" was fixed, and the one on "NC" was loose. So today I connected the necessary cables, as " Dui, ni shuo de dui " ...

Took some pics outside: .... The first saddle I made using the silicone clearly wasn't comfortable enough, so I'll make another one, a bit thicker with a slightly different shape. Aside from that so far everything's fine, the frame and the powertrain are done! Looks really awesome. I wish I were al...

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa
Today the parcel from QS China has arrived, finally... And the questions arise. First of all: I got absolutely NO documentation. I wanted to make the conversion with 48 V and ordered the components for that. The Controller has a decal saying 40-90V, so this seems OK. But on the motor is a print sayi...

While I am still waiting for my parcel from China (now announced for Monday 22nd...), I am trying to get some basic understanding about the cooperation of battery, controller and motor. Re: Yamaha YZF250F
Do you really think a tensioner will be necessary for this short chain? I am trying to avoid it, to have less things that can brake.. The motor is movable back and forth to adjust tension. The chain will also be in an oil bath, so I dont think it will wear very fast. It has room to move everywhere ...
