Re: ES Investors Club

it won't matter what one man or company does at this point. it's a macro economic problem and the dominos have started falling. here in asia, we saw first hand how fast and deadly this thing spreads despite being super cautious (and EVERYONE wears a mask). my advice to anyone thinking of "buyin...

Re: Tesla vs Porsche

Which battle are we talking about here? Tesla will beat Porsche on sales volume, no doubt about that because Porsche has never been a high volume manufacturer but I don't think Tesla will be able to keep up with Porsche in the performance race. Performance is Porsches reason for existing, VAG group...

Re: Tesla vs Porsche

If Porsche doesn't think they can win they don't get in the ring. Their turbo era cars are the stuff of legends and the 959 is still sophisticated tech more than 30 years after it was released, now they've dipped a toe in the EV pond you can be pretty sure they're going to do the same thing with ma...

Re: Tesla vs Porsche

i love porsches and i still have a 993 but at this point it's not even about who can build the "killer" car. it's about the business model. i say half hearted in terms of allocation of resources. tesla has all kinds of levers they can pull to monetize new revenue streams (insurance, softwa...

Re: Tesla vs Porsche

any effort made by the ICE industry is going to be half hearted. their business model depends on having a fleet of ICE cars out there to sell service and parts while they sell their new cars at a loss. whether they go forward, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. it will be pretty di...

Re: ES Investors Club

wow, not many TSLA investors on this board? i am. bought @240 back in 2015. been holding ever since and hopefully accumulating more on weak 2020 Q1 sales. imho good chance they will join the 1T club (5500) since there has been so much capital injected into the economy. at the same time, i think the ...

Re: 2018 Torque Arm Tests, Splined Interface Design and Tabbed Washers

it looks like the countersinks are compromising the strength of some of the splines on the TA. maybe use a larger pitch circle diameter with the added benefit of more clearance from hub to add loc-tited locknuts at the end of those screws? might also consider using "chainring style bolts" ...

Very interesting! Maybe you can try to use less complex models instead of training heavy CNN?
yes correct, for the self-balancing inference only a simple regression model is needed (it doesn't need to look at the video frames for that).

my cnn is based on nvidia's model: https://devblogs.nvidia.com/deep-learning-self-driving-cars/ inference takes < 20ms (throttle, brake and steering) on google pixel xl (though i've only trained on a game sim). i'm also using opencv in a webassembly worker to detect cars, lanes and orb features (pre...

Re: Self-balancing electric bike

i am adding autonomous capability to my bike (Duty Cycle) and i can say that self-balancing (while rolling) is possible. i have trained a CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) using Tensorflow.js on mobile and have it running in a game simulator. Right now I am only capturing/training on video, throttl...

thanks pf26. the code i posted is a function and i'm only passing the payload "4" as a string into the function so it's basically a 1 char length array ['4']. i am not that familiar with crc. am i making a mistake in passing the literal decimal value character? CRC calculation starts from ...

hi subcreative, that's a good suggestion since a lot of ppl (like myself) have not touched c in ages. i've started a hybrid cordova app. the realtime dash is about 80% done but the config and serial/bt is still w.i.p. (haven't pushed it to github yet because it's still undergoing some major refactor...
