Re: Males: is your color vision deficient? Color Blind?

Is it just me or is it creepy how many people so far have color vision issues in here? We must be a controller salesmen's wet dream. Think about it, all controllers are set up with multicolored wires. We, those of us who have issues with Red and Green, can easily blow a controller and have to buy a ...

Re: Males: is your color vision deficient? Color Blind?

I am one of the few people who is 100% color blind. I was born with what is known as Absence Of Cones. There are two types of vision receptors in your eyes called Rods and Cones. Due to a drug that was prescribed to my mother when she was pregnant i was born without Cones, I have no color vision at ...

Re: BMC hub motor Ebike conversion kits from $400

I currently have a 9 Continent front hub motor and it barely fits in my front forks. Is the BMC torque model any wider then my current motor?

Re: Internally Geared Hubs

Now Drunkskunk brought up something I have been wondering about. Is a drum brake better then a V brake on an E-bike? I saw a Velomobile the other day and he had Drum brakes and he had a Bionx kit set up on his rear wheel. The other thing is I see allot of Cargo bikes with Drum Brakes and I was wonde...

Re: Internally Geared Hubs

Drunkskunk I can't find the five speed SA anywhere. I can find the eight and the three but it's like a dirty little secret that no one want's to admit exists. I can find it on the SA home page but no one who stacks internally geared hubs has one or ever carry's it. I was talking to the guys at my lo...

Re: Internally Geared Hubs

Drunkskunk so what your saying is the 8 speed doesn't have the easier gears it goes up from a 1 to 1 in dificulty? Dang that's kinda useless. I've got my eye on a three speed kit that has everything and I'm thinking that's the one I'm going to get. I went to my local bicycle shops and to have the hu...

Internally Geared Hubs

I have been toying with the idea of getting an internally geared hub for my Cruiser. The supplied Shimano 6 speed dérailleur keeps jumping gears. It's very touchy. I have to get it adjusted ever few months and it's starting to get irritating. I have two choices in mind the Sturmey Archer 8speed o...

Re: CYCLE JOURNEY COMES TO ABRUPT END

I have an update for everyone. I found Ted's blog site. He has had one hell of a trip. Problem after problem after problem then Lightning. His last update said he was in the ER for 3 hours. I don't know if that is good or bad. Here is his blog site.

CYCLE JOURNEY COMES TO ABRUPT END

This has to be the weirdest thing I have ever heard of when it comes to bicycling. Some time ago I discovered this guy named Ted, he was planning to cycle 1400 miles from Melbourne Florida to Bartlesville Oklahoma. I was following his trip on YouTube. I just watched his last video and it kinda blew ...

Re: Izip Trike Upgrade options

I have been looking at getting one of these, I keep toying with the idea but never commit. If you could take some pics of the drive system and of the rear axle that would be great. If it's a split axle then your stuck with a front hub. If it's a single or joined axle then you have some more options ...

Re: ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE WORLD RECORD SET

Kieron said in the video and what is on the web site. The record time was on half charge, there was an issue with the previous motor melting due to overvolting and when swapping out the motor an error was and the batteries where not fully charged. The category they where in is like a motorcycle TT r...

Re: ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE WORLD RECORD SET

Doc: Actually the motor they used started out life as an electric forklift motor. The severely overvolted it though, just the same it was a great ride. Jester: (looks around conspiratorially) shhh I won't tell if you don't about Burt. I am unsure if that was overall or just for their category. I thi...

Re: ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE WORLD RECORD SET

Without sounding too melodramatic, this a victory we can all really be proud of. The bike was built by a group of EVers like us, on weekends and with allot of trial and error. See what a bunch of enthusiastic tinkerers can do when they put their minds to it. This is the sort of thing that I find rea...

Kearon also built his own electric car. It was a Capri but now it's and EV-Capri. This is very cool stuff. Who said electric bikes and cars where slow? Nice to see the spirit of Burt Munro is still alive and well.

Re: THE AGE OF STUPID

Yes there is a THEORY as to what caused the last ice age and what brought the planet out. Here is an example http://oceanservice.noaa.gov/education/pd/climate/factsheets/whatcause.pdf. There is o doubt that there was an ice age, or many, in the past. The evidence is quite strong that there was. The ...

Re: MagneticSolderAnnounced-UsesMagnetismForMelting and Flow

That's pretty impressive, I have heard of this before but it was slightly different. The applications of this would be so good for e-bikers, think of it you wouldn't need to worry about heating up the solder points on a battery. yes I know if you use a tab welder it would do the job, but hey this is...

Re: By 2029, is war with N. Korea inevitable?

North Korea is starting to become a world power, it has access to weapons grade nuclear technology and it has a ready and easily deployable platform to use it. They continually improve their current infrastructure and they are currently doing it all by themselves. I think it is possible that war cou...
