Re: Why never see metal cast around wound stators?

Wouldn't encapsulating a stator with electrically conductive metal squander a huge amount of energy to induction? Really, you want to encapsulate it with diamond. Excellent thermal conductivity but electrically insulative. Let us know how it goes. DLC (diamond like carbon) is getting cheaper and be...

Re: List of racing E-motos

Not a race bike but for your street emoto index might be worth a mention. Way back in the day on this forum I remember being amazed by I think it was jay 64 built a full size lithium powered motorcycle. Had to of been one of the first. Not sure that build thread still exists.

This is a pic of there Honda cub swingarm designed for hub motor. I'm not sure what will fit in there but if a qs273 fit in there that would be fast!

Re: Honda Cub/Passport C90 electric conversion

Shanghai customs sells swingarm for hubmotors, hub motor, controller, and other custom parts for cub. There website is under construction but could probably contact them on their Facebook page.

Re: SUPER SOCO ... no Sur-ron here =)

many locations have a vehicle class called scooter or moped where you only need a drivers license. I don't care about the semantics as long as i can get a license plate to drive legally on road. Cops hassled me endlessly on me ebike so I no longer ride it.Would be fun to have a cheap street legal h...

Would or could this be registered as a moped? well if you somehow slap some pedals on there, hence MO-PED / MO(torcycle) with PED(als) many locations have a vehicle class called scooter or moped where you only need a drivers license. This is promising. The scib battery has been around for awhile. Great at everything but capacity but sounds like they might have fixed that.

Re: Motorbike Conversion - 1985 Nighthawk 750S - From Junk

You might be able to use the regulator rectifier to step down voltage for headlight and turn signals. Two parts to it. Rectifier turns ac to DC, regulator steps down voltage but does it by shunting excess current to frame but if ground goes to battery maybe work? Anyways it's the part attached to th...

Re: Motorbike Conversion - 1985 Nighthawk 750S - From Junk

If it's heavier than stock your probably going to want to add some preload to the front fork. Get some heavy schedule pvc pipe that will fit inside of the top of the suspension tubes. Add about an inch more or less till you have about an inch or two of compression total when you sit on the bike. Mig...

Actually I'm positive that is an oil cooling radiator. Probably doesn't really matter other than being coated in oil it's much less likely to be corroded inside.

Re: Motorbike Conversion - 1985 Nighthawk 750S - From Junk

Great build! You should of been on junkyard wars. My first bike was a 1982 450 Honda night hawk which I still have and plan on converting to EV someday. I love that bike, I'll have to live vicariously by watching this build. That radiator might of been for oil instead of water. Could be a handy part...

Re: will KMC Kool Knight Chain fit on regular bicycle sprockets?

If half link chain was even as good as, let alone better than, normal roller chain, industry would use it. They don't. They only care about results, not fashion. I can tell you four $10 chains will outlast your $40 chain by at least 4X and probably more. That's decades of bike shop experience, not ...

Re: will KMC Kool Knight Chain fit on regular bicycle sprockets?

I have the Kool knight chain on my bmx. Beast of a chain. I broke four of the strongest single speed chains in a row till I got the Kool knight. Pros, extremely stong, more adjustable than regular chain so great on a single speed bike without derailer, perfect for small sprockets, and protects chain...

When is the 505 coming out? 50-70 years ago. I'm not against retro per se, but ugly then doesn't improve with age. It's on the ev makers website. I commute by motorcycle but I would like to have the 505 to haul larger goods. I like the style of these scoots. If they made a fallout game in Russia th...

Re: Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

That has to be an April fools day joke, I mean he supposedly rode his bike around (rather quickly) on just one cell? Suuuuuuure How fast would a fairly normal ebike go on a 1s pack? Assuming no voltage sag? Would it even move? Guess the controller couldn't have a lvc. I'm assuming this is a April f...

I'm guessing these are expensive. Maybe run a string of these in a pack of cheaper cells to add cooling?
