What tool are you all using for cutting slots for welding?
I'd think some sort of punch tool that cuts a 10mm X .5mm slot would be ideal. Google hasn't been much help finding one.
Thanks all!

Re: 72v battery - looking for the smallest 20ah-30ah out there
I do not think you'll get below 15 lbs for 30ah.
I have a 32ah 72V pack made from 4ah 21700 cells (20s8p), it weighs about 30 lbs with BMS.
You can probably figure on about 1 pound per 1ah for a 20s pack.

Re: Battery connection method
You could probably recover 50-75% of the cost of the K-weld by selling it when you're done making your pack. I'm sure there are some here who would happily purchase a lightly-used K-weld for a discount. I know that I would've (I bought one new recently). The K-weld is a brilliant piece of kit. I had...

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 250 build
The engine on these bikes is a stressed-member. The battery frame on this build will not serve as a stress member. It would be MUCH better to weld it up with chrome-moly tubing, and add some diagonal bracing. It might be necessary for said bracing to bolt on one side to allow installing and removal ...

Re: Daly BMS Problem (150A/72V 20S)
I have the same DALY problem with FET shutoff. I saw it happen when the temperature dropped below 8C, but when back in the garage at 16C the motorbike worked again. I'm still investigating why. It is possible to connect a PC program called PC master, you can then read more parameters and update the...

Daly BMS Problem (150A/72V 20S)
I have a Daly 150A/20S BMS on my EV converted Vespa "VespaLectric" . The last time I tried to ride it, I switched on the main switch, tried to go, and lost all power. Long story short, looking at the bluetooth app, it appears that the charge and discharge FETs are both shutting off like th...

Looking at how rusty the interconnect strips are, those are NOT pure nickel, but, steel.
That is probably why they're thick, because, steel is much less conductive than nickel.

The 4000W QS hub motor (don't know the model off the top of my head), check this build thread: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=109761&start=150 on my E-vespa can do 100kph no problem. It can sustain that. Power consumption at that speed on a flat with no wind is about ...

Re: New QS138 90H V3
I like it. I wonder how much power these can take for bursts.
I have a "4000W" QS hub motor in my Vespa. It tolerates several second long bursts up to 15,000W.
If I had the free time, I'd love to put this motor in a Ninja 250 or similar sized motorcycle.

Up around 60mph it feels like death is right around the corner with 12 inch wheels My Vespa P125X EV conversion is nice and stable up to its max speed of 62 MPH on 10 inch wheels. Re: 10ohm 10w resistor for 72v battery
What are you trying to do with said resistor?
If you're using it for a test load, you'll need a much higher wattage resistor.
72V / 10ohm = 7.2A
72V * 7.2A = 518 Watt.

The second battery will be in addition to the current battery, or will it replace it? Addition. I'm doing it for multiple reasons. One, as that by sharing the load between the two, each battery will provide roughly half the current. This way sag due to internal resistance of the battery will be hal...

120bA * 72V = 8,640W, over double the continuous rated power of my 4KW motor, so, no, I don't agree that I just as well could've used a smaller motor. I tend to run it continuously at 4-5 KW. ery. You can go wayyyyy over that, don't worry. My 2000W motor on the scooter takes 210 battery Amps and 51...

Nice pic of the scoot! Beautiful scoot! What size wheels/tires does it have? I love the spoke front wheel, very classy. I also love the front disc brake. My Vespa conversion still has the lame front drum. It has 12 inch wheels. Front is a 1.85x12 with a 3.00x13 Heidenau tire Rear is a 3.5x12 rim wi...

Re: Vespa PX125 (Large Frame) Electric Conversion.
I very much enjoy the sound and character of my various motorcycles, especially the vintage ones. I usually use it as my errand running vehicle, but, this evening, I took it for...

So in this thread: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=93794 He goes based of 20 WH per mile. Again, I know itβs all relative but is this number dependent on what exactly? 9 mile ride today! Scoot feels good. I tuned it down a bit to help with range a bit. How does one calculate range estimate? I have a 72v 30AH battery So..72x30=2160watt hours. From here, how do I determine my WH per mile to get me range? You're best off just doing it empirically. Ride it, monitor s...

Actually, you can make your own cell holders any size, any shape you like. 3D CAD, 3D printer, appropriate filament. I use PA-CF (Nylon Carbon-fiber upto β100 deg C working temp) for my 2 identical(mirror?) packs * 20S3P of Samsung21700-40T. They are durable, light, fit perfectly with cells, fun to...
