Re: Yamaha YZ250F

That 100kw motor is probably rewound then because you're not getting 10krpm at 100vdc, or 100kw for that matter. I will try get my bike on my dyno this weekend. I should be able to do consecutive pulls while upping the battery limit. My guess is after 500A either my battery or motor starts leveling ...

Re: Yamaha YZ250F

Doug, how do you limit the charge then? (I think you were running 24s?) Do you guard it and turn it off when it is done, or let the bms cut if necessary? I dont think I will buy one, but I am curious anyway  I havent really tested the new gearing yet, it will probably be this weekend. Tyson, ...

Re: Yamaha YZ250F

Thank you :) Well, I dont really know what the motor can take. I dont even know how much phase amps I have fed it, if I even have hit full throttle it has only been for a second. You can always try to get dougf to put his bike on the dyno  The higher the voltage the harder to find controllers...

Re: wr250f conversion

A small update. Got some time in the last week and started writing some code for my custom dash. Lots of typing. This is my first time programming STM32's. Seemed like a cool 2 for 1 to use them on this project but it's seriously kicking my a$$. Getting there. I have no idea what I want it to show f...

Re: Yamaha YZ250F

Nice one mate. Glad no serious technical issues with the bike. I havent had a blister since I fitted my flexx bars. They are expensive but good. For trackside charging I got myself one of these; https://www.wsepo.com/products/wse2000i-96v-portable-silent-smart-dc-battery-charger-generator-with-autos...

Re: wr250f conversion

Oh thats not bad then if its not really noticeable.Ive never ridden anything that heavy on trails tbh lol.I think a 610 Husky i tried was bloody awful and i had to work so hard to track my lines it became not fun.I would be tempted just to build her a little ktm 85 framed 138v3 build for the price ...

Re: wr250f conversion

Hi, does it actually feel as heavy as it is when riding? That was my main concern with my Enduro build.Trading motor size and ah for something I can flick and bounce around my trails on but still crush hills with bursts of 30 odd kw.I have some good fast MTB trails i can also ride and fully believe ...

Re: wr250f conversion

A bit more riding yestersay. I modified my magura throttle end stop to reduce the throw, no longer trips out :x and feels pretty good now. Still linear and 224. Someone i was riding with took it for a spin. Was a bit worried i wouldnt get my bike back . He had a 300 exc which was interesting t...

Re: wr250f conversion

Yeah its annoying. For a long term solution a shorter throw assembly is better. Im a pretty conservative rider so its never really a problem. I clipped some more footage here, https://youtu.be/RMHfQ5nonNM Next week ill go back with someone faster and they can catch some 3rd perspective. We were just...

Re: wr250f conversion

Hi ya, So if you change the throttle end position voltage does it auto change the rpm (Ratios in Speed) settings and will it still hit its max rpm do you know?Im also hoping i can take some throw out the Domino throttle and gain some initial snap in another throttle setting if possible.I found Line...

Re: wr250f conversion

Its fine, if you plan on riding an elec bike in comps like that, close enough to topic. Did about 50kms of single track and fire tracks today. My first proper offroad ride with the fardriver. Pretty stoked. I started on your recommendations of linear and 224. About 20 min in i changed throttle high ...

Re: wr250f conversion

That race looks like fun although a bit muddy for my liking. Been riding my bike to work, i tried 224 and linear today but it still feels a bit unresponsive to me, probably because im riding on the road and going faster then 80 most of the time. Ive also set my upper batt current limit to 400A which...

Re: wr250f conversion

Yeah i could jb weld it i suppose. Ive actually drawn a custom one up but i was put off a bit by the need to setup the shaper and harden the steel afterwards. I think ill just machine a clamping hub that bolts to the sprocket. Will still need to cut keyways but it wont need hardening. A job for late...

Re: wr250f conversion

So you are at 4,7x-1 or 5,45-1, that explains some of the differences I think :) I am at 7,1-1 or so.. Very interested in that 11 tooth 428 :thumb: Yeah ok, very low geared. Id need a 78t rear to get anywhere near that low. I thought i had problems with traction  . Even with 5.45 i can still p...

Re: wr250f conversion

It seems like the rated rpm changes with the battery voltage, but I cant say for sure. Yes, eco is just horrible.. I dont see the use of these ECO coeff 1-8 either, anything other than 8 and the bike hardly moves :? It would be nice if they were useful to tame sport throttle a little. Im pretty hap...

Re: wr250f conversion

Just some Generic sprockets i found from a local store, 20220807_111503.jpg A bit tricky to find 520, most pit bikes are 428. Ha, nah my dyno is currently buried against the wall. I did re-run autolearn with no chain, doesnt feel any different, although rated rpm went up to 2840ish from 2700. I also...

Re: wr250f conversion

For anyone curious this is the wear on my motor shaft after about 20hrs or about 500kms.

Looks pretty good considering the sprocket fits pretty poorly. I do have it doubled up with a second sprocket to increase the contact area though.

Re: wr250f conversion

Yeah I have, I got about 95km of gravel road riding and used about 68Ah. I ended up getting towed back the last 3kms because I had set my low voltage cutoff a bit high and only discharged to about 2.8v per cell. When I get into single track stuff, further. Probably around 110km if I take it easy. On...

Re: wr250f conversion

I used the PVC foamboard because I had it and It isnt meant to do any serious structual stuff aside from holding the cells in a pattern. Its also very light. The original plan was to put the assembled pack into an aluminium box but I had designed too much precision into it as far as fitting it into ...

Re: wr250f conversion

An update on my progress of reading data straight from the controller. For those who want to do this too, hopefully this will get you going, When initially turned on the drive will try and init the bluetooth modem. If its not plugged in it will continually try. Not a bit deal but make sure your code...

Awesome mate, hope you're grinning from ear to ear :D . Was that an autolearn without the chain on? Maybe I should try it and see if its any different. Did that FAIF value change?

Re: Yamaha YZ250F

50ms till zero. Some of that will be the time it takes for the grip to rotate. Dont think thats the problem. Sort of has to be drive ramp.

Dont know what FAIF is. Hopefully fardriver can get you some different firmware to try.

Re: Yamaha YZ250F

Ok. The APT controller also carried on a bit after throttle release. Very noticable with wheelies. The fardriver i got is a lot better. My model and firmware are ND1961800B_463_14A.2.3..... But obviously im using an encoder so its probably different. I also found some motor auto learn params; LD: 11...

Re: Yamaha YZ250F

Are they talking the regen throttle release issue or the throttle feel issue? If they want you to send it back its probably a hardware issue, not a settings issue :( . I can write you some arduino code, you just want an output to turn on at a programmable throttle position? A bit harder to flatten o...

Re: wr250f conversion

Do you mean you will control the fardriver over the tx rx ports, and not use the throttle or brake inputs at all? It seems like something has to be done, fardriver:s throttle control seems horrible :? I dont believe you can do throttle and brake input over the rs485. Looking into what i can do. Im ...
