Cool. I love the data overlay on the video.

What kind of battery is he using? Any range estimates with that system?

Re: Ebike controller exposed to shortage

If pack voltage makes contact with a 5v line, no fuse will blow fast enough to prevent damage. It will only prevent a fire.

Re: BBS01B 36V 250W - trying with higher voltage [success]

I have seen somewhere an extension cable for the display. If you can find one of those, it would be possible to cut the cable and install the TVS diode on the pack voltage line in the cable. Then you could install the cable in line with the existing display connector and have the mod without opening...

In other words, theres no differences internally or electronically with the motor, correct?
The only difference is in the controller. Everything else is the same. If you are going to upgrade to an ASI controller, it won't matter.

Many controllers have a programmable speed limit. You could just program the limit you want and it would accelerate like mad until it reaches the limit then not go any faster.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

thanks. and are all bikes available with regen braking? Is that part of the controller or specific motor or both? Regen only comes with certain versions of the X controller. And it is "slip regen" meaning it engages as soon as you let off the throttle and is not controlled by the brake levers. Some...

Re: Ebike controller exposed to shortage

Most likely you will need a new controller. One test is to measure the voltages on the PAS connector and the throttle connector to battery negative. You should see 5v somewhere. Another test is to disconnect the PAS sensor and try throttle only. If the battery positive made contact with the 5v line,...

Hi I have some problems running the car. Motor runs good unloaded. As soon as i push throttle i 1T car motor stalls. Since i put SS41F sensors on the windings i am wondering if i oriented them correctly. I glued them in the back of the winding with TO92 sensor positioned 0deg to the rotor and look ...

Does the Asi4k and bigger batt require the x version or can the cheaper/older version be used as a base?
It wouldn't matter. They are the same other than the controller.

Hello! Thank you everyone for all the great information on this thread! Helped me mod a servo tester for my set up.

Would these work instead of modifying a servo tester?
No, I don't think so. Those do the opposite conversion.

Quick question about actually charging. I'm trying to figure out what voltage and current to supply to the charge leads. My setup is a 13s3p system of 18650's. This means I will probably be charging at 2 amps but what I'm confused on is the voltage. Should I be doing 4.2 volts or should I be doing ...

Re: Tesla Model 3

If the video is real, then it was way more than just a few cells going off. Normally you see a pack burn much more slowly where one or two cells at a time are venting and it propagates from cell to cell. If a whole bank or section of the pack somehow shorted, then you could get a lot of cells heatin...

Re: Tesla Model 3

To get a fireball that big, a large section of the pack would need to short. The individual cell fuse wires are supposed to prevent more than one (or a few) cells from blowing in this case. Perhaps the individual cell fuse wires don't perform as advertised. It does not appear the car is being charge...

Re: Completed DIY E-Bike Display with a JBD BMS

That's great, thanks for posting. I can imagine someday having the BMS, controller and display unit all on a wireless network so they can interact but not need a giant hairball of wires.

If you plug the charger into the AC first you should not get sparks when you plug it into the pack.

Hello, I'm looking for electronic component (or circuit if required) that engages the E-Brake cutoff (3-pin) if the bike is standing still. So you would need to move the bike a bit and then it disengages the E-brake cutoff. So only when moving can you apply the throttle. Thanks You need something t...

If the gearing didn't change the top speed much, it may be the power output of the motor is equal to the wind resistance so you may not see any real difference over a fairly wide gear range. This happens with my bike, the top 3 gears give the same speed unless I'm going downhill. What kind of speeds...

Carbon fiber is somewhat conductive, but not sure how it would do with eddy currents. It could be tested. Old school Garolite would be something to look at or stuff called G10, which is just like fiberglass circuit board material only thicker. Fiberglass is sort of rough on the machine tool bits and...
