Re: Power Spikes - Modifying Ninebot Controller
Disconnect the motor wires and measure resistance between the wires (all combinations). A shorted FET will give you a short between a pair of motor wires. Good FETs will measure like a diode, near shorted in one direction and open in the other direction.

Welcome! Nice looking stators. You have even more iterations than APL.
Now we need to figure out how to 3D print that SMC magnetic stuff.

Re: A2B Metro (Gen 1) Restoration and Upgrade
Yes, the A2B Excel was labelled/sold as an 'Electric Scooter' and appears to have been fitted with an 800W version of the UltraMotor. I guess the controller was in the frame: It says main battery 48v, so that's how they got more power. I ran mine at 52v for a year before I did the external controll...

Re: A2B Metro (Gen 1) Restoration and Upgrade
Cool, I've never seen one like that. Around here it would be legal on the street, but not on the trails. You'd be sort of screwed with that one if you hit any kind of hills like I deal with. Great for flat ground.

Still sitting at 10.5" for the season. The hills are looking about as green as they're going to get right now. It will be all brown pretty soon.

Re: Looking for featherweight hubmotors, >10kW
That sounds pretty close to a Sur-ron motor. Not a hub motor, but they have a good track record. I could not find specifications ....I send them an e-mail.....do you have the specifications?.... Check out this page: https://www.sur-ron.com/us/power.html Keep in mind the power rating of an electric ...

Re: Car alternator to PMAC?
I was able to set my falling edge and rising edge on the zero crossing of my sensor signal. How do I find stator U to Rotor Sensor U by test. Unfortunately, this varies depending on what controller you are using. They are not consistent about the labeling. The only way I know is to trial-and-error ...

Re: A2B Metro (Gen 1) Restoration and Upgrade
I replaced the freewheel on mine with a new one that was the same tooth count as the original. I really can't hear it much. You really want the pedals to work if you want to avoid issues with stupid cops. Also handy when the electric drive fails. On mine, I can assist the motor up to about 20mph in ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I have what look like the same signal lights. I had to place a load resistor across the amber input to ground to make the flasher work. I think I used 150 ohm resistors. It's pretty common to need load resistors when using LED lights with a flasher. My load resistors were installed in the rear signa...

Forecast high tomorrow 84. Several cities nearby are expected to break records. There is a slight chance for rain after the weekend. The warm weather is nice except all the plants are flowering early and the pollen is really thick. Stuff that makes you dizzy. Fire season is already here in South Dak...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Oh one thing, the charger that I have doe's not have an on/off switch, as soon as you plug it in the power is on, will this make a difference to the steps you suggested? No, other than instead of turning "turning on main power", you simply plug in the charger. My charger doesn't have a sw...

New member here; I have just a couple of questions, My Sur-Ron battery died ( will not power the bike & no readout on the screen). Try this before giving up: Awaking the Battery after Auto-Sleep mode: 1. Plug the charger into the Main power. Do not turn on the charger, then insert the charger i...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod
30h is a communication failure. The display is unable to communicate with the controller. Hard to say what caused that, I would carefully check the connections between controller and display. Look for bent pins. 12h is a current sensor fault, indicating the current signal voltage coming from the shu...

Re: Car alternator to PMAC?
Not good. Capacitors won't fix that problem. The flux it getting pulled to one side at high currents. Most motors have the hall sensors mounted at the end of the slot, not in the middle. Since the rotor teeth are skewed, this might be hard to make work also. You may need to use a separate encoder, e...

They don't seem to understand electricity much.
I'm still waiting for someone (we trust) to actually test one before throwing it under the bus.The motor is capable of 20hp and 8kWh and a top speed of 80mph. The motor can be pushed further for a peak power of 14.5kWh.

Re: DIY Fix for BBS02/BBSHD Pedal/Throttle Issue
The throttle issue sounds like mine. Several members have reported good results by flashing new firmware to the controller to fix the problem. I can't vouch for compatibility of any firmware versions. My hardware hack will work regardless of firmware version. The PAS problem can be improved by chang...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod
A zero reading for the shunt resistors is correct. The temp sensor is buried in the potting on the top side of the board near where the blue phase wire goes in. Seems unlikely you hit the wires for it since they're buried in the potting. I'd still look carefully around that area. The temp sensor wir...

Re: Car alternator to PMAC?
I found a way to put about 25A trough one phase at a time. The rotor dosent really lock in a position, I can move it easy a little in each direction. And in that little movement one led on my tester turns on and off for each phase. So I guess that means the positions should be ok, but I think I sho...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor
It seems like the SMC is at least in the ballpark. It's going to be hard to prevent things from moving with that much force. A lever arm with one end on the scale will work and will reduce the travel by the ratio of the lever. Another approach is to let it stick with a 1mm non magnetic shim, then se...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod
11h indicates temperature sensor failure. The temperature sensor is a little black bead on a pair of black wires that attach near the PAS sensor wires. I would pull it apart and look for that sensor and check the wires. Maybe you pinched or broke a wire. Other possibility is a tiny spot of solder la...
