Re: Yamaha/Haibike battery won’t turn on. BMS dead?

There is a possibility however unknowable unless you go into the battery that the BMS is not integral to the nightmare CANBUS/diagnostic Yamaha proprietary architecture. In other words, this battery which is now a useless brick due to frocked BMS due to your good intention, maybe repairable without ...

Re: If I give a BMS slightly lower volts, will it still balance?

If you want good longevity and proper balancing buy an active balancer that will do the job in a short time (at a decent current rate) and at any SoC/voltage point you desire. Do you have a link for a 14s, 52v battery for this active balancer? How do you plug it into the battery to individually bal...

Re: Question about Bafang BBSHD maintenance/parts

I have about 2,000 miles on my BBSHD without any problem. However, I intend to open up at least the drive side to add/replace some grease. (I have noticed that if I spin the pedals backwards there is zero drag and the click-click sound is rather 'metallic', denoting in my opinion a lack of grease)....

In spite of it all including lack of traceability being at the root of no accountability...with cheap replacement parts and good overall reliability, once transitioning out of the early growing years, in particular the BBSHD which was an improvement by Bafang based upon lessons learned from BBS01/2,...

Re: Can I replace my BBS02 motor core / rotor with a BBSHD?

If your motor is not a 02-B version built after early 2016 I'd go for a new bare motor. Parts for early pre-B versions are a PIA to access and more often than not unavailable. BBSHD has two versions of the rotor and a typical Bafang move, has no serial number tracking... My 02-B was purchased from ...

Amberwolf is somewhat the forum expert on this subject but just to add OP... I bought a brand new 52v battery out of China and it stopped working after the first bike ride. I contacted the seller and we worked through the troubleshooting and like your battery, the cells measured OK but was getting a...

Dude, feel ya on having a racer's heart and yearning for more. Something you are born with and can be traced back to childhood. :-) Same here. I have aged and perhaps nth degree power isn't the end all for me any longer. I am placated by 'good power' and don't need overwhelming power. The Daytona i...

Re: Can I replace my BBS02 motor core / rotor with a BBSHD?

Wondering if the two motors are interchangeable using the same BBS02 main housing and controller. Planning ahead in the event that I have to replace my 02 motor due to the 'whine' issue discussed here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=117672 . If I understand it correctly,...

What a absolute miserable road to race on! My hat's off to those who can ride that at speed. 🏁🏁🏁 It is for sure. A throwback to a different time when roads were more commonly cobbled in Europe. A race of strength and endurance very different from the Tour de France and why those who win the most co...

Nope. What the mechanic missed is a fundament of good rear derailleur shifting. .... Actually, unless the pavements in his part of the world are much better maintained than those around here, his major mistake was building a "road bike". The world I come from...racing road bikes. I am tra...

Re: BBS02 motor whine

The rotor swap result will be VERY interesting. If that's the cause, new rotors run $70 - 90 while a new motor core with rotor $130 - $150. I usually use the one-third $$ rule when deciding fix vs. new. If I can fix it for less than 1/3 the price of new, I'll go with a fix. I decided to wait a week...

Wow. Quite an indictment of the entire industry. A question. Do you believe BMS's are useful at all? Or are they completely irrelevant or even harmful? If they are useful in the least, why? Do you dispute that electricity flows from positive to negative? Kind of sounds like it. Electricity Flow.jpg

Re: If I give a BMS slightly lower volts, will it still balance?

On the bike, which is 36 volt (10s) I charge with an rc charger but bulk charge. Now and then I check the cell to cell voltages, and they are remarkably close. But my main concern is the scooter, which is new. If I pull the charger off when it hits 4.1 x 13 volts but once every 10th charge I let it...
