Re: 48 V aluminum case Ebay battery 40 cycles out of balance

So I did the discharge test at 3-400w continuos ant got 13 ah. One series string dropped before all the others. Interesting that it was not one of the strings that was out of balance originally. Charging up now, we will see if it balances.

Re: Using a lightweight generator to charge Bosch e-bike bat

If you are taking a trailer why not just bring extra batteries? Put 1 or 2 light weight 100 watt flexable solar panels on the trailer so that the spares are always charging. Even on a cloudy summer day you will probably get 100 watt hours. Seems to me carrying a genny is deafeating the purpose. Migh...

Re: 48 V aluminum case Ebay battery 40 cycles out of balance

Thanks Dmnun,

I figured it might have been undercharged, and never allowed to balance. Maybe an under voltage charger. Seems the BMS stops at 4.1 V as that's where the high cells were. Maybe charged too fast, not allowing enough time for the lower cells to balance out?

48 V aluminum case Ebay battery 40 cycles out of balance

A customer brought this to me. I took a look just out of curiosity. He had put about 40 cycles on it riding a "1000w 48v kit" from Ebay. It now cuts out after a very short ride. He left it on the charger for a few days, no change. looks to be 8P13S 18650s. Cells were advertised as Samsung, I can't s...

Re: Help with founding power smart BMS software

Ok, I have the BMS working. The square symbols on the software are degrees C and some are %. Got a response back from Eason at Founding Power. He sent a file that can be imported into the software using the import box. I can't post the file here because it has a .cfg extension and windows computers ...

Re: Help with founding power smart BMS software

Thanks Amberwolf, That's a long thread, I am part way through it and already understanding more. First the voltages in mV threw me off  Not sure what OT and UT mean, they have a little square after them whereas the voltages have mV. I have a different version than the one in the thread, the FS...

Help with sorting out wires on generic controller

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help... Did anyone else go to the closing out sale at e-cycles in Vancouver? It was like a E-Bike wet dream and nightmare at the same time. Isles stacked with E-Bike goodies at pennies on the dollar. I bought three bikes, five hub motors, six controllers, etc etc....

Re: Ping low cell update

I charged them to 3.6V with the accucell. They are now sitting at 3.38-3.39V The spares charged in the same way are sitting at 3.43-3.5. Problem is I will have to mix them as there are four of each, and I need 5P. I am doing a capacity test now, I guess I will just take the best ones. The spares wer...

Re: found 1200 lumen bike light 12-80V $20.00

Looks like the same one that is on ebay from a bunch of vendors, should work fine. I have not installed the light yet, but the clamp looks heavy duty. Probably will put some rubber in between, it has teeth that will do some damage for sure.

Re: ping battery, low cell

Wow, thanks for all the help :D Dnmun, you suggested: "when you charge it up, that cell will climb up to the 3.9V level faster than the others because it has less capacity, and cut off the charge before the others fill up. you can leave it charging and that shunt resistor will be hot while the other...

ping battery, low cell

Hi guys, I have two ping 36v20ah batteries, they are about 4-5 years old, I use them on an eeze kit from ebike.ca. They still have about 16 ah capacity normally. One has started cutting out at about 7-8 amp hours. I checked the cells, and the last one is the only one out of balance. I charged this o...

I Have a little bell and an Airzound air horn. If the ambient noise is high or I am coming up fast I will use the air horn, it is really loud. I have been cursed at by other bikers for the horn. On the other hand I passed a woman biker the other day with no warning, just flew by, and I think I scare...

Re: charging from 12V

Thanks for the input guys. The AH calculations are interesting. The Ping 36V chargers draw about 122 Watts so 240 for two. I think a 4-500 Watt inverter should work. We often stay at a B&B or motel on road trips, so I could charge there, I just like to be self sufficent, thats all. If I had an RV or...

charging from 12V

Thinking of taking a road trip, and bringing the ebikes. I am wondering about charging from the car's 12V system. I could just get an inverter and plug the chargers into that, but is there a more effecient way? I came across this on ebay 160309190010.

Thanks

Re: 36V lights??? recommendation?

Ebikes.ca has LED front and rear lights that run off 24-72 Volts. They only consume 1 Watt or less. They are bright, but the beam is not controlled by a lense, so the throw is not all that far. You could use a DC-DC converter and run a 6 or 12 V light . Look at ebay 200256084739 or 260395277330. I f...
