Re: Help me pick the best motor/controller/battery for my fr

An observation - if you go with a rear hub and retain the pedals, 16T is the smallest (tallest gear) freewheel that will thread onto it. There were a couple of 15t freewheels for normal 1.37"-24 threads. They are hard to find. More likely with a fatbike, because the chainline is already pushed outw...

Re: MXUS 3000 Hub Motor

So, more copper fill on the higher wind motor ..nice! Did you spec that, or is this standard winding practice on the 3kW MXUS V2? Aside from a few stray/loose windings at 3 and 9 o'clock, this looks like one of the best 'Straight Outta' China' wheel builds I have ever seen. Were you pleased with the...

Can't see the frame from your eBay link -- because you scored it :D Couple questions- Are your dropouts horizontal or vertical (your pics show both versions) ? Are you getting a frameset, ie. frame and fork? *EDIT* Derp! Scrolled down your eBay link to see - vertical drops, no fork  An observa...

Re: Science, Physics, Math, & Myth

John, I fully appreciate your tenacity regarding 'The Myth'. I really do get 'It'.. ..but.. ..I would like to call your attention to the benefits of a higher voltage, lower current battery pack required to get the same work done with high turn count motors -> Our packs need to give MUCH less (20-50%...

Re: Short Harley LiveWire Test Drive-Plus Test Drive Signup!

Wonder if HD will include a sound device to alert other drivers and pedestrians to it's presence at lower (parking lot) speeds? Think of the "pototoe potatoe potatoe" sound signature that they tried -unsuccessfully- to patent. Reminded of a device that would insert a random pop and misfire on the ne...

Re: MXUS 45mm 3000W Motor Winding & Rim Options

Add to the Survey: Regarding Moped Rims: Would you rather have 7075 Aluminum or 6061-T6 Aluminum if it mean a cost increase of ~$30 per rim for the 7075 Alloy? Great question! A T6 moto wheel that is ~3/16" thick should have somewhere in the neighborhood of +/- 37,000 PSI yield strength, right? See...

Great discussion!

Higher wind count motors exist for good reasons ..I see no myth there.

Volt up, gear down.
Simple.

Re: MXUS 3000 Hub Motor

Another good argument for volting up, and gearing down -> half the amps required for -essentially- the same, high performance machine. Holistically speaking, the batteries only need to give half of the discharge rate = cooler, longer lasting batteries. Given the variety of high voltage capable contr...

Re: Difference between the MXUS 3000W - V2 - 4Tx16 and 5Tx12

With 15% more torque applied to the road the one with the smaller wheel has noticeably more acceleration, better hill climbing, and better economy. Plus the higher rpm at equal speed means not only does it make less heat because the motor is less stressed, but it sheds heat a bit better too. How is...
