Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

Everyone, Because of HobbyCity's replacement policy on bad lipo batteries, please: 1.) If a package has any damage to it, AT ALL... REFUSE DELIVERY and RETURN TO SENDER! - This would not apply if you were just ordering gold 4mm connectors, epoxy, etc. but when your ordering lipo, electronics (of any...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

liveforphysics, whew... glad HK responded (didn't like their response) but then I did the math, of 30 possible good cells I have currently 24 working re-configured into 2X12S 5AH packs. It is very likely that I can pull the 4 remaining good cells from the 2 puffer 3S packs for a total of 28 working ...

Re: Infineon 9FET Controller and 9C 36v FH from e-bikekit.com

bikeelectric, Calibrating your shunt has been covered in the 12 FET Infineon Controller thread, knuckles Regen and More thread and the Infineon Controller Technical Information thread. Calibrating specifically with Cycle Analyst is covered in the manual you would have received with your cycle analys...

Re: Infineon has REGEN BRAKING (and more)

Hello All, Somthing to think about - Back in the day when we used to build car stereos with 2000-3000 watts of power for Car Audio Competitions we were putting such a drain on the vehicle electrical system (headlights dimming with booming bass, 130+ db) that we turned to stiffining capacitors. I hav...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

All, I have had it with HK. They don't even have the common civility to respond to my emails and when I get someone in live chat they just go dumb and silent on me. I will be posting the unboxing videos in the morning on youtube and also close up pics of how the cells arrived, testing logs from iCha...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

Hey all, Still no word from Hobby King, but I am patient (sort of) and have enough for rough testing. Liveforphysics, you most likely are on a preferred customer list... I assume you post alot of commentary on their site. Their problem will be that I did video the unboxing of both orders, the initia...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

Luke, Thanks for the info... I had already determined that lipo needed to be properly cycled 5-10 times before they develop stable characteristics. I have cycled in the manor your mentioned (I used my oven then, it is flame proof) each of the 4 3S packs 8 times before first use on eBike. I would be ...

Re: Infineon 9FET Controller and 9C 36v FH from e-bikekit.com

Wow... I only spent a day traveling to e-bikekit.com and already I have a pile of unanswered but answerable questions... Lets begin with dnmun since I know a bit of your situation. First excellent work on the "accidental" engineering. I'm not poking fun, we all make mistakes and if nothing blows up ...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

I have to agree with ypedal (on more than just the lipo sluts comment)... seriously methods my man, do we need to hold an intervention? As I understand it there is a 12 S, I mean 12 Step Program for this problem... you are not alone = ) Sorry for the humor, just finished a day from HE**... I would g...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

10S4P Lipo Nominal 37v or 3.7v per cell
Manu Spec Max Charge: 4.20v per cell or 42v
Suggested Max Charge Cutout: 41.5-41.8 - 4.18-4.15 (should extend the life of your packs)
Maximum Low voltage cutout: 30v or 3.0v per cell
Suggested Low Voltage Cutout: 31-32v or 3.1-3.2v per cell

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

Mike, Don't know why I didn't think this sooner but the 1010B+ is max charge rate of 10A which I think drops to 7A for 10S, the limit is the voltage buck up and the components themselves and it is right around 300 watts so. 10S Max V required for Charge: 42.4v DC 300 Watts Potential / 42.4v = 7.07 A...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

Mike, If I understood correctly you are running 10S but have 4 of them for 4P10S. Currently charging all 4 packs of 10s on the 1010B+ with the balancers in parallel same as discharge of each 10S pack. If that is correct then yes you can leave (and should) that configuration while discharging also. I...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

methods - First, thanks for confirming what I thought... most people will not have problems with lipos even with "mild" abuse, ie: KFF (Ive just begun getting my color back after connecting a final 4mm male -> female and shorting a 24AH48V SLA supply @ full charge - I really thought my finger was go...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

Hello all, Just an update on the turnigys... 3S Pack #4 just went, its reading funny on the ohmmeter for internal resistance and if i push hard on the edges where the solder tabs are within the heatshrink the readings go back to semi normal. This is for sure a broken solder joint that was fine prior...

Re: Infineon 9FET Controller and 9C 36v FH from e-bikekit.com

John, Thanks for the info! My initial placement was through the heatsink butting up against the fet tab behind (the metal) but the reaction time here was far too slow (I think you would call it thermal equilibrium) so I moved it inside and yes it's on the metal portion of the sink in the center FET ...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

methods - my bad : ) I knew you were heavy into (pun intended) lipo and should have realized you were testing max oob (out of balance) when doing std charges with std charger. Just thought I'd mention the balancers either way for potential newbies. I am certain you, liveforphysics and I (plus most o...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

methods, Did you charge/balance/discharge the 1 pack that came in with the 100mv low cell before using it in your application? If not, that is your culprit... unlike many battery chemistries, lipo doesn't seem to have a bleed off effect (unless they are damaged) to help self balance. That would (pro...

Infineon 9FET Controller and 9C 36v FH from e-bikekit.com

Hello All, Although far from my intended final design (using HV110 & MS eDrive 2Stage + Tower Pro 5330-9T), because Matt has been so busy with the eDrives lately (I didn't want to add one more order to his load) I had to either back burner testing and development of my pre-controller (combination sy...

Re: Zippy Flightmax / Turnigy lipo testing

Hello All, I have received 10 x 3S 11.1v 5AH Turnigy Lipo packs. 1 of 10 3S packs was DOA but repaired (I think, still have to test on bike) Bottom Line: Extreme Power, No Heat, Great Price, Very Light - Awesome Packs, Tested, Measured and Confirmed, Very Low Internal Resistance !!! I have never had...
