Experienced eBike Builder Call for RFC on BBS02

Hello all, It's been a long time since I've posted here - life, and many things I just dont want to get into have kept me from ES Forums but I have been tinkering with the BBS02 all this time (when time has permitted). I have been informed by 2 members of the community that someone has managed to em...

Re: Latest road and single track weapon.

Beautiful Build ! Somehow I ended up with the same vision but without seeing your posts, just got a sweet deal on the Camber 29er 2013 I think with red accents and have a 500/750w bafang motor brand new waiting to be installed in something. Like you I've noticed the serious issue with chainline afte...

Astro 3220 has finally met its match !!!

http://www.astroflight.com/new-products/4535.html

With a 2000.00 price tag but a simply massive motor, you know someone will build the reduction for it :) (Recumpence)

You must check this motor specs out!

Attention: Bafang BBS01/BBS02 Users

Hello all, As many of you have found out the offering of only 48 or 46 tooth chainrings is not the only issue with the bafang drives for your bikes... I have several bikes from Hard Tail mtn bikes to many, many 20" folders and I can say that yes chainring availability is a pain in the ass!!! My Daho...

Re: Programming the Bafang Middrive BBS01+BBS02

Hey all, I've run into a bit of an issue with my BBS02 48v 750w unit and am hoping for some clarification from early adopters. In a recent folding accident I damaged the connector which is closest to the motor and connects to the loom for the front including the LCD. My connectors look nothing like ...

To the motor controller side of the plug, did you invert tx/ex lines?

Re: New Bafang Crank-drives

The software is actually easy to use but designed for the BBS01 - don't have one any more to check controller model and revision, may be the same as in the BBS02. I've got an open source version which will be coming soon and will hopefully be simpler to understand. I've had this for months but had l...

Re: New Bafang Crank-drives

You guys are thinking about the hall effect sensor in the throttle, but actually the high eRPM of the motor plus the controller's inability to accurately modulate it is the more likely culprit. Unfortunately many production systems come with this flaw. MAC/BMC motor setups had this problem until th...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

And what would the weights be if you adapted the mount to accept Astro 3210, 3215 and 3220 inrunners, just curious since given the level of performance these 150.00 85% efficient motors provide, Imagine what a monster 3220 at 94% efficiency would provide :)

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Mixed feelings of awe and fear. How many watts can a rear cassette take, I wonder. With my 750W Bafang, my heart skips every time I shift gears under high load. Next step would be to figure out the best/most durable power transfer mechanism from the crank to the rear wheel. Carry one or more space ...

Re: Bafang BBS02 vs hubmotor - Need to climb

The would need to spider it and then bend the legs in to offset the already likely slightly off (outwardly) chain alignment - my own adapter had to use 130mm BCD because I could not get clearance for anything else with a recessed adapter however it corrected my chainline (with the help of 2MM spacer...

Burtie, I'm in need of 2 of your parts kits... not sure what I'm putting them into yet, one will be a 3220 and the other either a 3210 or 3215. I've still got some parts from the last setup but had major issues getting things to fit and stay. Also, how well does the timing mod / device work? Could y...

Re: Meanwell Mod Power Supply as Lifepo4 Charger

Hi, I plan to convert a Mean Well SP-100-3.3 (20A) to a single cell LiPOFE4 charger. My plan is to use an Arduino board as a controller of the charge of each single cell. I need then a cost effective way to Mod a Mean Well PSU to Lower the current limiting to at least 100% and to be adjustable - if...

Re: RC mid-drive build from scratch. 80100, HV160, aim = 40m

Very cool idea, current will need to be kept low to get 100-120 RPM cadence at crank from any Astro since they want to spin at 7500 RPM to be efficient (.93%). If I can be of assistance in design let me know, I do have a few Astro's on Hand, a used 3210 10T 135 kV, a brand new 3210 135 kV and a 3220...

My setup is 20" wheels, Shimano 8-speed IGH. Just swapped in a new chain and took bike out for a ride in the dark. Serious hills here in my neighborhood. Was pedaling up long/steep hill in 3rd gear, all well but felt like it was lagging a bit, so hit the throttle as experiment. Serious power surge,...

Re: New Bafang Crank-drives

For the 750w 48v unit, I would strongly suggest sticking with 7 speeds and chain if at all possible, it is the strongest chain by far and will sustain the 1500w I frequently see when climbing my Mt. Everest. If you must exceed 7 speed, please don't think about 9 or 10 and go with 8 speed specific ch...

So about 450 delivered, if that's usd it's worth it, if not check into prices on 750 bbs02 delivered, they will be considerably more. The first ones here in the states were 650.00 for that model so it's not a bad price

Re: New Bafang Crank-drives

Someone needs to be the first guinea pig, BMS-Battery is calling this a 48V BBS01-350W, soooo...someone is confused. The picture they show seems to say "48V 15A" which would be 720W? Its possible they have the narrower BBS01 Stator, but are attaching it to a 48V / 15A controller?: http://www.bmsbat...

Spinning magnets, Thank you for the vote of confidence. To convey as not to over claim my "expertise" with the bafang BBS-0X units, I have previously spent a month bench only testing a 350w 48v BBS01 (the original) and purchased a 750w BBS02 for the same purpose. Since I already had bench data, I th...

Re: Bafang 750w + Which battery?

You want a minimum of 48v lithium ion or polymer which is 15AH or better and rated at 25A continuous with 40A peaks - really you only need 30A peaks but those indicate cheaper cells. Ideally you would want 2 x 48v nominal lithium pack of 13A ( but not the all cell kind, they don't support the requir...

Have a look at the Downtube.com Nova line, they begin at 24 lbs with all the BS (bell, etc) are really clean folders and are cheap at 299.99 Add to that a 750w Bafang Bottom Bracket Crank Drive and 48v solid power source (25A continuous) and you have a winner, climbs mountains like a billie goat and...
