Re: "LiPO", another "be careful" warning...

For those saying it's because LiCoO2 off-gasses some O2 at 150C that makes it dangerous, why are the laptops/phones/tablets most of us have collections of around the house not burning down? If you're reaching 150degC for some reason, that reason is both causality and the source of the problem (what...

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

no, limn2o4 is lithium ion becasue it uses an electrode/separator sandwich with liquid electrolyte and does not have the solid polymer electrolyte. Hebb calls their battery a "lithium polymer battery" and a "lithium manganese oxide" battery in two different places in their liter...

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

I know Hebb ebikes used Lipo in some of their batteries. Had a BMS, 10ah lipo pouches. I've seen some others too. Usually low c rate cheap stuff. According to their website, Hebb is using lithium manganese oxide, NOT lithium cobalt oxide. Lithium manganese oxide decomposes at 265 deg C, lithium cob...

Re: US source for Halls for 9C

Halls replaced. Also had to rewire the JST and phase connectors on the harness to controller because I will be using a different controller (would not have to have rewired the phase connectors except I had to cut off the JSTs so that left the phase connectors too long. Would like to have a tool to g...

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

the problem is that everyone speculates and nobody uses the available data. i know of only the four fires. since there are so many people with their own opinion they think is most important then it is kinda pointless to even discuss it. if you have evidence of how a fire started separate from these...

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

the last 2 post have totally missed the point.. it do not matter what chemistry you use .. battery fires can start for thousands of reasons and are very rarely related to chemistry. if you have a battery that can only deliver 1A max into a short and can dissipate the heat generated then this...

Re: "LiPO", another "be careful" warning...

If you don't what to risk having a battery fire then don't use any kind of battery, as any battery can, and do cause fires.. never think that one type of chemistry is safer than another as this will lead to problems , treat all chemistries with the SAME respect or you will get it in the backside at...

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

As I said before its irrelevant what chemistry you have it can all start a fire.. I have had NiCads explode and burst into flames whilst charging ( and know many people that is has also happened to , this was with fast chargers in the field so no real damage done) , and these were 1.2v 1ah C cells ...

Re: My Negative AmpedBikes Review

Lol. I'm upset and I will return the product, but there are hardly any negative reviews of AmpedBikes anywhere on the web. When I was researching which kit or ebike to get, as a newb, I seriously thought this over 2 weeks. If there were more people who actually wrote honest reviews of AmpedBikes an...

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

did you charge without bms? The common denominator in every fire here is not lipo, it is having no bms. Think about how much money we save not using one. I reckon that is about nothing. Now weigh that es wide saving against the es wide cost of not using one. Its a few houses, vehicles, outbuildings...

Re: US source for Halls for 9C

I was told to throw out the board and have not had a problem since. It was the board and not the hall sensor that I replaced on the first try. K.I.S.S. It occurred to me that this might be possible. The only thing on the board are small resistors. I don't know what for except to limit the current (...

Re: "LiPO", another "be careful" warning...

Okay, all emotions aside, how do you "properly" restore a diminished LiPo cell? I left a pack with a 2s-6s monitor for week, the whole pack got ridiculously unbalanced. Seems kind of crazy, since both items are being sold by HK as a symbiotic pair with no fine print. Anyways, I could spri...

I've got 11 on order. Will sell excess to whoever needs some for cost ($1.00 each, mailed in envelope). I think I need to replace all three. However, want to be sure. Re: Just a thought; cheap(er) way to get a smooth ride?

I have bikes with nice air suspension. I was at a show trying out ebikes, and one seemed really compliant at the back, so when I got off I wanted to check which shock it had; however, it was me that got the shock when I saw that it was a hard-tail. Instead it had the Suntour NEX SP12 sprung seat-pi...

Just a thought; cheap(er) way to get a smooth ride?

I am looking for a smooth ride on rough but paved terrain. My butt is getting tired of the pounding (no jokes, please). I have tried fluffy underinflated tires, padded seats, and suspension posts on hardtails and I've also tried cheap suspension bikes. Not happy with any of them on my route. Then I ...

did you look at ebay or mouser? i cannot believe they are cheaper than mouser. $0.99 a piece for 10+. If the order is over $10, they waive the small order fee, so 11 was the sweet spot. Shipping is by USPS for less than $3.00 so it was a decent deal. After shipping, this was either the lowest or cl...

Shopping for shipping costs and times is such a frustrating hassle. I don't have a source for you, but I do have a realization to share. US source for Halls for 9C

ebikes.ca has Halls sensors but looking for somewhere more local (shorter shipping) to the US east coast. I have seen "latching" Halls and I assume they are non-latching if not specified and not sure which I need (non-latching I assume but perhaps either would work(?)). Also, the space int...
