Re: Lawnmowing: manual and electric powered

I just figured out that I can fold the rear seats forward and down on our hatchback. This helps tremendously with space. I can now roll my mower into the back with only doing a quick fold of the top part of the bar. (I was previously folding it at the deck which took more effort). ..Actually I bet I...

Re: Lawnmowing: manual and electric powered

I just picked up a Free Radical Xtracycle last week. The problem with towing a trailer is that all the weight is unsuspended and the roads can be rough around here. Speed limits are not a concern. One thing I hate is that parking my rig at the curb gets the attention of the scrappers, they think it'...

Re: Lawnmowing: manual and electric powered

A trailer is worth considering. At first thought I didn't want to think about dealing with maneuvering one in reverse. Registration should be only $65/yr. Theft isn't a big concern. I believe I can remove the back seats in the car which would help a lot. My service area is about a 5 mile radius. Abo...

Re: Lawnmowing: manual and electric powered

I think you're on to something. Hinged side decks (dual?) are something discreet electric drive can facilitate. This was not as practical with IC/hydraulic or lead-acid as it is with modern battery chemistries. There's a lot of things a solo innovator can devise and use that just aren't practical a...

Re: Lawnmowing: manual and electric powered

Well I don't even need a z turn. I just need more power on my 20" deck. Another idea I had was to mate a lightweight deck via hinges to one side, with its own motor. No belts or transmissions needed. Drop it down for the larger lawns. I'm going after superior cutting efficiency, and low cost. A...

Re: Lawnmowing: manual and electric powered

Reel mowers can be a lot of fun on manicured small lawns. Very light and easy to maneuver. I don't use them anymore, for my lawn (which is half weeds) and commercially. I'm really trying to build a higher powered walk behind rotary battery setup. I've had a lot of lawns with thick or tall grass that...

Re: Lawnmowing: manual and electric powered

I'm up to 36 lawns mowed commercially with my brushed Craftsman mower (Johnson Electric motor). The brushes don't look like they've worn at all since last year. Power is okay, but not enough for thick stuff to be time efficient. I tried running it on 18s with a controller, and the breaker kept tripp...

SOLD 36v bottle mount battery housing/kit (USA)

SOLD This is a working battery housing, with 36v (low, estimate 15amp) sensored BLDC controller, display and throttle. It needs: internal battery and motor. It uses the generic waterproof motor wire/connector found on many commercial low power bikes. Or cut it off and use your own connectors. I've b...

Yes still for sale.

Update: it looks like shipping is getting ridiculous unless you live in TX perhaps. I would consider unlacing it to sell just the hub motor, which would definitely allow a more reasonable shipping cost.

Re: Mean Well HRP-300 Modular Bulk chargers SOLD OUT.

Is there a way to turn down the amperage on these? I have three stacked together and I worry about the middle one, they get pretty damn hot.

Or should I not worry. (I think I read something about them having thermal protection?)

Re: New 80 volt push mowers

I bought a new 40v black & Decker string trimmer, without battery. My plan was to use my own 36v battery. But there appears to be two additional small wires that connect to the battery pack. Does anyone know what they are for? They must be critical for the unit to work because applying just 36v ...

Re: Delivery/courier with an ebike

I've done over 600 deliveries now, mostly with my ebike, maybe 1/4 with the emoto. It's how I make my living. Thanks to all those customers who tip well, without them it wouldn't be worth it. I've done about 3300 miles so far. Two flat tires ( screw, nail). No real close calls with cars. I guess it ...

I have about a bunch of project electric rotary mowers. some are only good for parts.
Local only, Austin TX.

This is the project you've been waiting for. Remove the motor for an ebike project or use your ebike battery to run them. Or fix.

Re: DOT Headlights for eBikes

Why would these bulbs produce different light patterns in the same headlight housing? The halogen has a proper cut off to the top, but the LED throws light everywhere. They are the same size essentially. No front projection.
