Re: Lipo fire- no one hurt- my fault
Sorry for the loss. Good thing you are ok, and hopefully it wont be too costly for the repairs. How Could the 3S pack have been over charged? Wouldn't it baloon and ignite durring the over charging process? Maybe it was puffed already from overuse, or over charging and you didnt see it before you st...

Re: determine the correct spoke tension
Not sure, but this doesn't seem to be at any more angle then normal. You would need longer spokes.

I would get longer spokes and cross pattern them if all possible.

Re: out of ballance
What you really need to do is check the cells when they are drained. Run them down to 50% and check, Run them down to 25% then check. Down to 10%, be very carefull with taking them down; if you have some weak cells that have lost capacity the voltage of those cells will go lower then the others in t...

Re: Controller fix/modification
Since you connected so much more voltage to the controller, I would check the output of those three step down regulators sitting next to the resistors there. Those may have blown also. You'll need to replace the cap, power up the controller and probe the output leg and ground. That controller has a ...

Re: Lipo configuration is this adequate
I would upgrade the capacitors inside the controller to 120-200V capable, since you are going to have 100V hot off the charger. The caps will last longer. Lyen should be able to do it for you before he sends it out. With the charging setup you have pictured, you could charge all the batteries at onc...

Re: Turnigy Wattmeter clock does not work with less than 1 a
Here's mine, Running less then 1 Ah; and is shows it and calculates it. My meter is over a few years old though. I also reprogramed a lot of it and modded so it can handle 100V. But i didnt mess with the low and top end of the current calculating. The internal clock as you call it is not very quick ...

Re: Some sort of short on balance leads. What happened?
You have it figured out right. Thats a series junction board. You can get on digikey and order a male header for like a buck and replace the one that you smelted. There are all kinds of different brands of parallel boards out there if you need to charge that way. I can't wait for the day when someon...

Re: Glass puncture through the tire
Thanks for everyones 2 cents :) I actually deflated the tube and poked in the crack and it wasn't cut through all the way to the tube. But It is close; I'm guessing its cut all the way to the beads. I'm going to ride it here soon and see how it goes. I will be very carefull. If it starts to grow I w...

Re: LifePO4 higher charge amps more capacity?
You guys are right ;) So, tonight I discharged one of the higher charged amp rate packs and one of the lower amp rate packs. I took them both down to 3.0V per cell at the same low rate of 1.2 amps. (Thats actually about 90-95% of the capacity because of such a low amp rate draw). Turns out the charg...

Re: Glass puncture through the tire
Thanks guys, I cleaned it out and filled it with rubber cement. I will check it after every ride. They are steel bead tires, so They should hold up better then a folding tire. If get gets worse I will just use this as an excuse to upgrade my rear disc rotor to 203mm instead of the 185 I have on ther...

LifePO4 higher charge amps more capacity?
Im working on a new charge setup. I Charged 2 of my packs at 4 amps and around 6100 Mah was put back in for both packs. I then charged the other two packs at 10 amps, and around 6300 mah was put back in. My question is, are the other two packs going to have more capacity the next time I ride? Or is ...

Glass puncture through the tire
I have a small 1/4" long cut in my rear CST cyclops pro tire. It is all the way through to the tube, but it didn't puncture the tube. I get up to speeds of 40+mph. Should I be worried? Should I try and clean it out and put in some rubber tire repair cement in the crack? I just would hate to hav...

Re: Battery Charging and discharging????
Just a note, When I have a cell thats higher then the rest, and the balance charger is taking too long or the voltage wont come down on that cell; I use a 5mm LED and plug it into the balance connector on the cell thats higher. Let it sit for however long it needs to drop the voltage close to the ot...

Re: 4mm Bullet Question
I run the HTX 4mm bullet connectors with 10AWG wire. I had to install the connectors in backwards (pushing the connector into the housing with a flat head screwdriver, not the normal way of pulling the wires through). I had to belt sand the shoulders off on each connector to a 45 degree slant so tha...

Great video!
I always go here to get continuous amp ratings for wires: then I add a little more for silicone

Re: Front Wheel Question
I run the Cyclops 26" X 2.4 tires on my bike, and my front rim is 1.08" outter width, so less then 1" Inner width. The tire is a lot harder to get on the front wheel. I really have to press and pry with the tire levers, but it does fit and has been working great for many many miles. I...

Use a multimeter and test the continuity all the way from the connector going into the charger to the connector on the balance board. Easy Peasey.

Re: Charging in series
Here is a pick of the balance boards. It's pretty simple. 5S in one connector, 5S in the other connector. All the negatives on one side lined up with the balance wire. Don't forget the two packs need to be wired in series to charge ports.
