Re: How to get the smell out ? - Chargers.

That phenolic "smell" is from an unwashed board, and common attribute from low-cost assembly plants. Try spraying down the board using a standard no-residue pcb cleaner and let it air-dry outside for a day in the sun and away from any open windows. All my controllers have that smell, but I rarely ha...

Re: What tire can cope the ebike punishment?

Since you don't want to go moto or moped tire, though more battery so you don't run out of juice (bad for cycle life anyway) is the better answer, then ride faster to get away from the side of the road where all the tire flattening crap is. I agree with this: Ride faster to get out of the lane of c...

Re: Motor Material Choice

Agreed: Don't use CF (or Aluminum) anywhere near electrical fields or you will be conducting levels of alternating current relative to proximity. I like the idea of Plywood as an alt to FR-4  Clever! However - I wonder what the thermal limits would be. I suppose it would be at least to the cur...

Re: Aerodynamics

I highly recommend these type of center bars if you go to drop bars. Tons of adjustment / hand positions and notably faster / more comfortable while riding in a lower position. You may need a few throttles / buttons and maybe add some cross brake levers to them if you are in traffic areas often. ht...

Re: 4500+ Miles US Ebike Tour - August 2014

Hang in there Troy! 8) I had the hardest time dealing with heat in August, and in particular – the day I had the flat tire during a severe scorcher; a 15-hour day outside that began before sunrise and ended in complete darkness after 187 mountainous miles. Some ideas from a professional developer: I compose in Word . Not even the latest version – 2010. I bought a BOB IBEX for just that idea. Before attempting any mods, I gave it a trial run – hauling a load of groceries from my local… and I was not impressed. Never used it again; it remains stored in the back room. :( Decided to built my own trailer using a “jumper” frame . It had some issues that...

that is the first time I've heard someone claim we're over 25% peak in renewables in certain regions - and growing.
