Montreal, Quebec bicycling

I spent the weekend in Montreal and had a blast renting the BIXI bikes. Montreal has bicycle kiosks throughout the city and renting is as easy as swiping your credit card. For only a few bucks, you can rent a bike, see the sights and drop it off at any Bixi kiosk. While the bikes are not electric, i...

Re: Buyer's Remorse, How can I fix this

Ebike will not gain popularity until it has power to make it fun and usefull. The actual laws are killing the development and markettability: Who want to buy a heavy electric bike that can't go as fast as one can pedal a lightweight bicycle... Certainly not me, so I have to build them to suit my ne...

Re: Buyer's Remorse, How can I fix this

I have no problem with more power and torque but riding a non-street legal bike on a public road is a problem for all ebikers. Ebikes are relatively a new concept and all we need is a few bad apples to give all ebikers a bad rep. If you want 7000w of power, buy a motorcycle. A bike is a bike and we ...

800 plus miles and still no problems. Great torque, incredibly quiet motor but still street legal; the RMartin was a good decision.

Re: Buyer's Remorse, How can I fix this

When I first got the 1000W rear hub running, it was surprisingly fast and impressive. Less than 2 years later, and i'm bored with 7KW and 100V, looking to move towards 150V and 15KW. Just dump it and get some real power. Maybe you need a motorcycle. A bike is a bike, if you want/ need that much pow...

Re: eLation vs Aseako

The Aseako looks very much like the R Martin? Nice bike. Bracket mounted powered bikes usually have better torque than hub powered. Glad you like it. I purchased my R Martin last year, nice ride. Of course, wouldn't mind if it was lighter but other than that, very happy with it. Very quiet whisper m...

Re: Buyer's Remorse, How can I fix this

I just bought a 2010 Giant Twist Express. I got it practically new for an unbelievable price so I went with it even though I knew I wouldn't be satisfied as-is. The bike itself is very well built and has a couple of cool features. It has a down tube with a channel in the bottom through which all th...

Most my battery packs are 2000mah 11.1 volt. How long will they last? Any suggestions? I'm ususally on my bike 1-2 hours in the evening. Thanks.

Re: Magicshine GeoManGear Battery recall

You are in luck; radio shack sells it. It is either the "M" or "N" style plug, and is about $3.50. Inside pin is positive, outside is negative :) I actually have made a little EC3 to magicshine connector.. just not featured in the pic. I know where I'm heading after work! Radio Schack is right down...

Magicshine GeoManGear Battery recall

Two months ago, I returned my batteries and supporting documentation to Geormangear for the Battery Recall. Have not heard nor received anything yet. Anyone receive his or her replacement batteries? Magicshine did offer to sell me new batteries for a reduced price which was pretty insulting. Do not ...

Re: Demographics?

Pie chart? Graph? With all the engineers and geeks responding to this post, why doesn't someone create a graph, chart to show "average" or "medium" age sex etc? Something like a BMI graph; plug in your weight/height and bam you got your BMI.

Broken Spoke. Am I fat or do spokes age??

Last year I purchased an R Martin Bike. No problems, it rode like a dream. This summer I have two broken spokes already. The bike has 800 plus miles, I do many hills and unfortunately, a few pot holes. The R Martin features a bracket mounted motor so it easily manages high graded hills. The broken s...

Great review! I've been looking at the IZIP Zuma as a second bike and very tempted. Did you get the standard or step thru version? Also, care to post any pics? Want to see and hear more!!! Last year I bought the R Martin 12A, still happy with the purchase. Surprised how quiet it is and very happy wi...

I'm seriously considering the Montreal Naked Bike ride but concerned about their attitude toward electric bikes. Not sure my ego is strong enough to face criticism; hard enough to ride naked let alone face criticism cause I'm on a Electric Bike. http://wiki.worldnakedbikeride.org/index.php?ti...

I need an electric bike for my commute, which is about 11 miles round-trip, with a 650ft elevation change, climbing about 400ft in maybe .5 miles. I've test-ridden the OHM XU700 and a 750W E+ MTB. I would like to test ride an A2B, but they seem to be out of stock everywhere. I'm looking for a ready...

Is this a good deal? What is a 600 T Optibike? How many Volts/ Amps is the battery? Motor Wattage? The ad doesn't give any real specs. Can the old internal batteries be removed? How much modification can be done and will it accept a new 36 v 10 amp LIPO system? http://cgi.ebay.com/Optibike-600T-Elec...

Monkey lights work pretty well but you'll occasionally get unwelcomed attention. But prefer attention than getting hit by a distracted driver whose mind is more on his/ her iphone than the road!

Re: Really like (love) my new bike.

Cool. got an estimate of how far you have ridden? Is it lots of miles daily, or more like short trips? Last year I bought one of those inexpensive Bell speedometers/ odometers from Walmart. Works great. So far I've ridden almost 800 miles in 10-15 mile trips. Bike is still holding up great. Got it ...

I also have a 750 watt hub style DD Bike, the Bracket Mounted R Martin bike is more effecient then my hub style bike. Very happy with my R Martin, just wished it had disc brakes. h...
