Re: Low budget conversion

Hi all, I am exploring possibilities to convert a friend's bike to E-bike on a budget of around $600, and I would love to have some suggestions from the available crowd here. I will do the conversion for her. Bike looks a bit like this: http://www.practicalcycles.com/userimages/dutchIDwomensBLACK.j...

Re: LI-ion NiCoMn Battery from BMSBattery

Hello there, I have a Problem with this kind of batteries.. I was fool enough not to charge a 48v/12ah one for 2-3 months because of a really important personal issue.. Is my battery ruined? How can I charge it now? 2 weeks ago one friend of mine tested it and it has juice to move the bike (it was ...

Re: How much does beer cost where you live

There is very little mark up on the domestic beers here, so in the stores or bars they are about the same price. I like the local light beer, Tona[about the same as Imperial in Costa Rica] and a 12 pack is about $7 or $8. But in a bar or restruant, a Tona is 70 or 80 cents. But that 25 cents is a bi...

Re: How do you ship a complete bike?

I recently shipped my e-bike international and it was a disaster[another story], but I did learn a few things. Yes the pedals need to come off, or they will poke thru the box. Leave the h.bar wiring hooked up and tape the h.bars in a recess of the frame. Don't use packing tape. The glue may melt and...

Like many noobs, I jumped into ebiking without much research here , but I did manage to start with an excellent platform[sheer luck  ]. This is a 2003 Rocky Mountain Edge in the 20.5" version. At first, I thought it was too tall for my 30" inseam as the near horizonal top-tube is per...

I've raced the "Streets" track before on a motocycle.
My "built for assist" Ebike would have me pedeling like crazy just to get up the first hill.
Wicked fun track though.
Nothing else like it in the West.

I thought of that, but I will be going from St. Maartens to Managua Nicaragua. Expensive with no guaranteed "door to door" delivery.
Finding, getting to and from the FedEx office could take an afternoon in Managua.
None the less, I will explore that possibly.

Flying with Lipo(not RC planes)

Anyone done it lately? As I understand it, one is allowed up to 3 "large" batteries not to exceed 300 watts each. How would an airport security official determine the wattage of each battery? If they went by what's on the package, and to carry as much capacity as possible, I guess I would ...

Awful web site.
At the bottom of the page, they show two styles of in-frame bags,
But no info as to which one(or both)is the $40 model.
Several other pics scattered around the site.

Please keep us informed as to what you find out about any of these products.

Thanks, motomech. That gives me a little bit better idea of what I'll be getting into. I don't mind having to to go slow and pedal while going up hill -- after all, it is a bike, not an electric motorcycle. Currently, even with a 42 tooth fr/34 tooth rear bailout, I feel like I might bust a gut try...

Re: Same power, different voltage. Pros, cons, no differenc

The limits of the sm. 250 watt geared motors has been well explored here by GaryKard, Russell and others.
Russell melted the phase wires on a 24V GM motor run at 48V 20A.
He also ran a 36V Bafang at 48V 20A w/ no problems.
Broken gears rarely seems to be the weak link.
