Re: Trying to ID an ebike motor and its controller
Although there may be a hint of of a known model or perhaps a speed rating in these long line of characters, more often they have no meaning (at least to those of us in the West). Especially clones, of which your motor surely is (or perhaps a clone of a clone). It is a "geared" motor. Not ...

Re: Geared Hub Motor Quality
MXUS - what I choose. Nowhere near the numbers for Bafang, and, specifically for their small geared units, very, VERY few breakage reports. Six years, approx 15,000 miles, zero issues. I started w/ a MXUS geared over 10 years ago I got from the long gone Amped Motors and although I don't think it l...

Re: Total Newbie Project- Sea Kayak Propulsion
Those drawings of the kayak are pretty much useless. Do you have a Hobie Revolution 16 or a AI or TI model? If your Kayak doesn't have a Mirage Drive, then it doesn't have a drive-well to drop a motor into. And with the pointed bow and stern, those mounting points are out too. That only leaves a sid...

Re: Rad Power hub motor bearing replacement
I've looked at other Bafang hub motors and some appear to use a considerably smaller connector. I wonder if they all have the same connector problem or if some are actually made with a connector that clears the nuts and bearing? The sm. connector is called a 9-Pin connector and comes on most every ...

Re: Rad Power hub motor bearing replacement
When you get the cover free of the cable, just drill two sm. holes in the cover that line up w/ the outer brg. race and knock it out w/ a sm. punch. The holes can be plugged w/ JB Weld. The brg. should have some numbers on the race that can be matched at a brg., belt and chain supply store. Carefull...

Re: Buying first system - Need input please.
As far as leaving the bike out in frt. of stores while shopping, it's probably better in L. Amer. than in the States. There is almost always a security guy in frt. of stores and although the ones working at the big chain brands can't take any money, I would usually spiff the guys in frt. of the sm. ...

Re: Buying first system - Need input please.
I really want an ebike but sadly I feel my fate will end up being exactly the same as yours in being stolen. What were the circumstances in which yours were stolen? Were they locked securely to something? House broken into and taken from there? Actually, three have been stolen. The first happened s...

Re: Buying first system - Need input please.
Well, it seems fairly clear that you need to find a dealer in mexico..... I don't think there is such a thing. I have been working and living in Latin America (Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama & Nic.) for going on two decades and I've never seen another Ebike, let alone a dealer. The locals are alway...

Re: Buying first system - Need input please.
I'm in Baja and both my ebikes have been stolden, but I have a lot of parts left over if you are interested. I rode ebikes in Latin America for over a decade, but I'm not building another one, just too dangerous, as the drivers have zero respect for bicycles. I rode on a rare road that actually has ...

I noticed this the other day; https://www.evcomponents.com/annual-special-bafang-8fun-bpm-48v-500w-motor-and-controller.html I don't know anything about the Co., but it looks like a pretty good deal. i have any doubts I can always buy a 20A controller to reduce the risk and give me better safety mar...

Re: Front Hub Motor with Shimano Mid Drive Advice
Running a frt. hub motor with a mid-drive is not a terrible idea, the OP just needs to lower his expectations. A small geared hub motor (> 2Kg.) will not greatly effect the handling and can be safely mounted on a alloy suspension fork when installed w/ care. A low power, small hub motor makes for a ...

Re: figuring out the wiring on my new controller
Very strange labeling and terminals. The "electric lock" and "Autometer Signal" cables only have one wire each, so unless you have the "autometer" w/ other feed wires, I suspect they are useless. Like all other controllers, unconnected pairs or groups of wires are out o...

Re: Surplus of blown controllers
I think we should point out for anyone new to ebikes and wondering if their controller will be reliable, that if they stay around the controller's rated level and don't keep changing things, even the cheap, genaric controllers will be fine. It's when the levels are being "pushed" that they...

Re: cute Q100 casette width
The bicycle terminalogy for the two types of gear-sets is very confusing. To simplify it, most here use two terms; 1)The link you provided, labeled a "freewheel", is technology a "freewheel cassette", but is referred to as a cassette. 2)The other type is technology referred to as...

Is that a single speed "fixie"? Sounds like rachet pawl noise. The noise sounds external, like it's reflecting off the side cover.

Re: cute Q100 casette width
If by "cassette", you are referring to using a Q100C version of the Cute, that combo is getting kinda wide at 136 to 137 Milimeters. Whether or not it will present some difficulties in the installation depends on the bike and it's chain-stays and drop-outs. Not every bike is built on the s...

Re: Surplus of blown controllers
I seem to go thru controllers and recently threw a "box" full of them away. I clip all the wires and reuse the 2-wire thru 5-wire hard plastic connectors on future builds/rebuilds to replace the junky white nylon ones. I never had much luck fixing them and the controllers I use are only $4...

Re: correct controller for 10s lipo? will a 36v/48v ebay one work?
I assumed you were talking about LiPoly, since you didn't specify and usually a 10S battery pack would be that chem. But I suspose a 10S batt. could be Li-Ion. It really doesn't matter. At any rate, your last post doesn't make sense. If you read my post, you will see I told you a 36V/48V controller ...

Re: 15s lipo/li ion with 48v controller
No way of knowing when pushing the Values that close. With genaric controllers w/ cheap caps, I've had one that worked and one that blew the cap.
Unless you aren't overly worried about losing the controller, I wouldn't try it.
