Re: How do you drill a rim for better spoke alignment?

Thanks for the feedback guys. In order to tension those spokes properly conical washers where placed between the nipple and rim. They make an even surface the nipple can then sit on. So far i've done a little over 4700 Km with that wheel without any problems. A few days back a wheel was laced for DH...

Re: Custom Stealth Bomber build( Photo update )

Normally i would´t do so, but the positive side effect is that here in Germany good wages are payed. That in the end makes the final products expensive. But it´s still better then buying an iPhone for example, knowing that they´r assembled by poorly paid workers. An other big plus is the high qualit...

Re: Custom Stealth Bomber build( Photo update )

She´s almost street legal now. The last thing to bolt on are those lights. The biggest downside are the high costs that E - approved stuff ends up costing. The headlight for example was sold to me for 670 €. Just finished the taillight support and license plate holder. http://i44.ti...

You might want to check out this video. :-)

Just a short video explaining my wheel build using a sun ringle Mtx 24 inch rim.

Re: Custom Stealth Bomber build( Photo update )

Thanks Voicecoils. :-) I´ve found this controller data sheet that helped me a lot . https://docs.google.com/document/d/10jN2S5Q2AFDBKbGEPjNo5vy1aJBgKZ1aWGTEG4EzeUM/edit?pli=1 Limiting the speed and power via the CA results in a bumpy overall control. After setting the limits directly in the controll...

Re: Custom Stealth Bomber build( Photo update )

Power Update. The TÜV allows a maximum of 4 Kw. Yes! I´m working hard on getting the lights installed. They´v finished inspecting the frame, motor, battery, etc… and have approved it all. All Sunday will be spent in the living room drawing the schematics for those lights. The hydraulic bra...

Yes, that´s the same switch i´ve ordered. Just like Chalos. :-) Mine has a metric M10 * 1 thread though.

Next week Dh-Paule will give me some Avid Code R breaks to play with.

Re: Hydraulic cut-off brakes

My custom built bikes needs brake lights that turn brighter when the lever is pulled. The german TÜV doesen´t accept any type of switches on the levers outside. So i´ve started to mill an adaptor that will be built right into the hydraulic hose. An oil pressure switch will do the trick. Once finishe...

Re: A eBike in a RaptorFrame

So far they just watched me pedal by. Slowly off course, to prevent any suspicion from arising! Do the balance plugs on the HK batteries fit directly into the BMS, or is it necessary to solder the packs together so the voltage rises from cell to cell? I´m asking this, because with single 6s packs, y...

Re: Custom Stealth Bomber build( Photo update )

I´m working really hard on getting this bike street legal. Did some testing with the 24 FET controller these days. This plus some modified CA parameters will reduce the power to 2 Kw and prevent the bike from going over 45 km/h. It´s really hard to find the right values so the power drops smoothly w...

Re: A eBike in a RaptorFrame

He,he, now that´s what i like. :-) Another German guy that is sick and tired of those crappy and boring mainstream e-bikes. A 250 watt motor on a bike is useless. All it does is add weight and kill performance. If you decide to put a motor and battery on your bike then your build is another fine exa...

Re: Custom Stealth Bomber build( Photo update )

This is the light stuff that´ll get fixed to the bike soon. :-) Currently an adaptor is being machined to fit into the hose of my avid code r brakes. This will hold an hydraulic switch to turn the rear brake light on and off. The underside of that light includes a white LED to illuminate the license...

Re: Custom Stealth Bomber build( Photo update )

As soon as it's street legal, you will get those videos. Until then nothing will be uploaded so there's no evidence of this bike riding around town. :-) A friend of mine built another "illegal" e-bike. The cops didn't just stop him cold, no, they also confiscated his bike! To prevent this from happe...

Re: Custom Stealth Bomber build( Photo update )

My X5 motor is still ok. On another build one of the HS motors was burned out. The X5 takes a lot of abuse due to it's sheer mass. But once heated you have to be careful. The 8,7 kw it is run with are too much. But for about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the terrain, it takes the power without any ...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

The original spokes fit the sun ringle rims perfectly. Well the length is ok, but due to the wider nipples the original holes have to be drilled to make space. The SM - Pro rim is the better choice. I just finished truing the rim. The spokes can be tensioned a lot more. Don´t know the exact torque, ...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Hi DH-Paule, just finished the motor and lacing of your new SM-Pro rim. The original stealth spokes are a tiny bit to long and stick out of the nipples end. I will dremel that of and do the wheel truing next week when back in from working over the weekend. http://i43.tinypic.com/13yfors.jp...

Let´s just sit back and wait. It´s way to early yet. I´m sure they´ll find something to refuse me a license. But someone has to give it a try. Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Kepler, what was the final voltage of each cell on your pack? Did you exploit the possible 4,2 V per cell? On my Turnigy pack, to prolong it´s service life, a bit of the total capacity is sacrificed by charging each cell to only 4,1 V. Every charge is a balanced one. It takes longer but hopefully wi...

That sounds like very few km for the pack. Really only 5000 Km Kepler? I just hope that my Nano Tech´s hold up longer in my custom built stealth bike. :-) The original pack in use for my bomber has done over 18000 Km and still shows no signs of weakness. When it was new the BMS cut out at around 16,...

All the big companies pay you to learn a profession and there´s no obligation to work for them once done. Most people do so anyways. After all you get to know many people in the company and if you feel comfortable then why leave? I don´t know though if the government gives some money here. It´s a wo...
