Re: Cube ( Custom Bomber ) build. FINISHED !!

Fitted into the brake hose an hydraulic pressure switch activates the brake light when the lever is pulled. The max voltage in Germany is 48 volts. New laws will be in place soon. So my build will still be legalised. Even with this high voltage setup. If used moderately, the battery gives me a usabl...

Re: Cube ( Custom Bomber ) build. FINISHED !!

Yes, the bent metal bolted to the seat post is an illuminated license plate holder. A total of 12 HK Nanotech 8000 mAh packs are used for the battery. This adds up to 18 cells *4p giving me 32 Ah. :-) Yup, she´s gotten fat and heavy. But that´s what you get when range is the key issue to deal with. ...

Re: Cube ( Custom Bomber ) build. FINISHED !!

The electrical parts list for installing turn signals is rather cheap. A 3 way switch plus the blinker relay and some wires cost under 10 €. Getting some cheap chinese blinkers will add another 3-8€. So it´s really no big deal and anyone can do it. :-) Next week a self retracting kickstand will hope...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

Hi Rix, thanks so much. :-) Yes, the hub holes where drilled and counter sunk on both sides to ensure a precise fit. I´m just in from a test ride and love the way the bike handles now. It´s incredible. Just too good to be true. It did take many hours to get those wheels laced up and trued. The easie...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

The bike accelerates super fast now. Feels like an e-turbo when compared to the old wheels. They stick to the road like glue. Before the bike was never inclined to much when going around corners. It´s a totally different story now. The wheels are just so stiff and sturdy. :-) I used a standard DH bi...

Re: Cube ( Custom Bomber ) build. FINISHED !!

Thanks. :-) The bike did get a bit heavier with these tires and rims. Current weight is 57 Kg. Bicycle tires just don´t feel save at these speeds. Furthermore they never transmitted the security and control these babes do. Heidenau approves these tires for a max speed of 195 km/h and an ax...

Finally it´s done! She rides on 18 inch Heidenau K65 motorcycle tires now. These tires are 3 inches wide. Looks great and yes, you can even ride without using the motor. Handles so much better then before with the bikes tires. :-) The rims are aluminum from the east German motorcycle MZ - ETZ 250. T...

Re: Cube ( Custom Bomber ) build. FINISHED !!

Just finished drilling the side covers to vent the motor. The 38mm holes have been covered by 8 aluminum discs manufactured on my lathe featuring a total of 608 small 3,2mm holes. These prevent big debris from getting inside. http://i40.tinypic.com/10erg38.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/qwx2yf...

These are the tools that will be used to fit the tire to the rim. The bucket in the back is a special tire grease. http://i39.tinypic.com/65piyt.jpg -From front to back- 1. Hey Rix, i´m really curious myself. :-) There´s so many tire types plus rims cluttering up my work shop right now. When theses babies arrived this morning my joy could hardly be contained. Yes, i have a strong feeling that these should finally give the bike what it deserves. Lacing up the wheels wil...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

I´m about to fit some Heidenau tires to my 18 inch excel rims. For those who like to go for street riding and have so far used the 24 inch Maxxis Hookworms, you might find this information very useful. 1. Tire type Heidenau K65 3.00 - 18 M/C 47S TT 2. Weight is 3200 grams. 3. Max tire load is 175 Kg...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

Me too! I am coming to the point that I am not going to spend any more money testing tires. To date, I have spent close to 500 bucks on running different tires only to keep going back to the 241. Plus I have about 1500 bucks in tire inventory just sitting in the garage. Tell me about it. I could op...

Ok, this machine is a bit more expensive, but it seems to be worth the money. We´re talking about 1400 € for the bundle. 1. Welding Transformer 2. Adjustable electrode holder. Re: 2012 Top 10 E-S eBikes of the Year

In Germany the limit for a moped is 4KW. That´s a lot of power. The downside is that you have to get a TÜV approval, meaning the bike needs CE Lights, tires, brakes and handlebars. I´m just in from another 78 Km round trip through the forests near my house. Since getting it street legal is...

Yes they are. It´s a must, those hookworms wear out in roughly 700 Km. Flats are another issue that will surely be a thing of the past with these. Just have to wait a few weeks for the spoke manufacturer to reopen his shop. Hopefully he can make me some 98mm long stainless steel M3,5 motorcycle spok...

Personally Avid has done it perfectly. I´ve fiddled about with all sorts of fixtures and just love the simple, clean and easy to install Avid solution.

It might not be the best brake, but for me the stopping power is more then enough.

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Hmps, my Hope at rear is a nightmare to mount. It is impossible to get a pad clearance. First of all, the disk rotor is not perfectly straight. I dont know if its because the rotor itself or the Crystalite that makes it a bit warped. It was ~0,4mm... I fixes this, but now I had the second problem c...
