Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Overtheroad diesel truck engines and farm tractors are operating at 40% efficiency so this is not that bad considering the truck can stop for a 20 minute fuel up and take on 400 gallons of fuel which is 15,000 kWh. Yes, there are many mental deficiencies to overcome in areas of sufficient infrastru...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Metal is much more useful than stone for tools. I see a ray of sunlight. So, what about 4-5x energy conversion efficiency of EV to ICE. (think 5 stone hammers to 1 metal hammer) Liquid fuel is ideal for moving things around. No, they are ideal to produce heat, it is what they do moving ICE mainly. ...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Fuel outlets will not diminish until after liquid fueled vehicles diminish. The liquid fueled vehicle quickly replaced the horse since they quickly became much more useful for transportation than a horse. Stone age ended not because stones where over. There always will be some use fore stone and fo...

Re: Fuse-wire for individual cells, DIY Tesla style

Remember, you have to interrupt <4.2V circuit and only a dozen or 2 of A current capability. This depends on the specifics of the battery pack it's used in. With many parallel cells the fault current could get quite high if a single cell were to develop an internal short. 1) The fusible link will b...

Re: Fuse-wire for individual cells, DIY Tesla style

I suspect that the tiny chinese glass fuses would not have a high interrupt capacity because the internal volume of the fuse is quite small Remember, you have to interrupt <4.2V circuit and only a dozen or 2 of A current capability. That is not really a plasma danger level and discussed fuses have ...

Re: Fuse-wire for individual cells, DIY Tesla style

Fuse wire and mentioned glass fuses are less then ideal for discussed job. Ideally it should be: 1)low heat conducting material with 2)high current conductivity, 3)confined fusible area and 4)protected fusible area What comes to mind is following fuse design with fine, zink based fusible link http:/...

Re: Lightweight lithium battery for car

Turns out most of what I thought was charge current was actually being routed to other systems thru the power block on the + terminal. The problem will be if you have almost discharged battery for some reason. After start, generator will try to push in all Amps it can generate. You can end up with ...

Re: Suzuki GSX-R e899 K2

Looks like some defective winding job in the burned section, some short maybe. Usually, the winding gets charred evenly all around and then just bursts in place where charred insulation fails first. 1. Feedback sensor: Which sensor type will be the better one for the high current and therefore force...

That looks really cool. Nice CNC.
Why are you using aluminium for connectors?
My first thought was copper, I used it finally as well with some contact grease on (aluminium will need some oxide breaking compound to).

What is the problem to open the motor? Normally you pry open one side cover (hammer and chisel) , which is glued on normally, as usual, then push out stator, if needed, with some tool or just jumping on the tire with axle on the floor. Please submit some pictures, you are facing a problem that was r...

Once, in 2008 I woke up in the morning because of people running and screaming on our condo parking lot, my neighbours car was on fire. The LCD is nice, I have 2 now and the info on first screen is about all I need but unfortunately I did not find any space to mount it, with access to the buttons. VBMS can do that, hit "run" aft...

Re: Suzuki GSX-R e899 K2

The weak spot is the insulation on the wires, inside the confined axle channel. To toast the winding you usually need to heat up the whole stator over the insulation enamel rating, somewhere north of 120C. You would feel the heat radiation of the stator in your faces skin just looking at it in this ...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

What is different on your BMS? Do you have a link? There is one sink (actually just an aluminum plate) on each side of the BMS. One is for the balance board, the other for the FETs. So two sinks in total. It looks like one you linked, the pictures are of a 24S BMS at least, but yours is 32S and mus...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

I'm using the 300A version, 32S. Thanks for your info. Your BMS is very similar but not same, theoreticaly you should have worse fets if going linear on V ratings but they could potentially be better fets if they are some original reputable make. Do you have access to fet sink? (the balance sink is...
