Re: Thoughts on this battery harvesting scenario?

After, if, determining all cells of similar condition, doesn't matter if built in parallel or serial 1st. Personally, I usually lay out in series, then parallel together. If BMS put extra stress on #1 cells and you want to use them, stagger them to equalize banks. 12s 1st series 4-4-4 2nd 1-4-4-3 3r...

Re: Thoughts on this battery harvesting scenario?

Thanks for the input DrkAngel. The packs already have a BMS installed on each to keep them balanced during charging. Would this change your strategy? If I am reading this correctly, you say to keep them connected for testing. What about when it's time to build the pack? Should I split them up then?...

Re: Raised Bed Gardening - Cement Blocks > Greenhouse!

Had some great mid-January weather, mid-50s, so put a sign on the shop door, "Closed due to weather" and did some gardening. Yesterday Prepped all 11 High Tunnel beds, 2" of composted leaves on each bed, then turned in with a heavy fork. Dug in 10-12" and turned over. Then topped up with 2" of fairl...

Re: Thoughts on this battery harvesting scenario?

Do not separate cells! Test the 4s1p as individual cells. Charge as 12s or 16s(?), clip or tack together (I use Neodymium magnets wrapped with adhesive copper foil), make sure all cells at same start voltage and monitor as charging. 1st - Charge all cells to full, precise 4.200V(?) or label each cel...

Re: Homemade Battery Packs

I pulled out about 4Ah riding around while the voltage dropped from 41V to 37V. Using only 4Ah from 4.1V to 3.7V means your cells have excellent capacity! You used less than ... (900/2550 =) 35.3% for 4Ah EVE 2550mAh.jpg That means you will have over 10Ah+ if cells discharged to 3.3V. I don't know ...

Re: Homemade Battery Packs

I will likely cut tabs near white silicone, remove BMS, straighten and solder to 3 additional packs for 10s8p 36V 20.4Ah. Might leave 1 BMS for balance only, definitely charging through output. As proposed earlier, may trial as 11s8p charged to ~41V and cycle to 38.5V (3.5V-3.7V) for a near 10Ah cap...

Re: LED Lighting projects (was E-39 / 4U 65w CFL Ballast)

Just curious on how LED projects are going? I am revisiting my 12V COB LED projects. 50w 12V LEDs only draw 18w @ a precise 12V. Assumably, these LED modules attain their rated 50w near the typical vehicle and SLA battery charge voltages, 13.5-14V? Have a couple dozen P3 fan-heatsinks left. 12V modu...
