I just took my wife's ebike battery and turned it from a 24V20AH pack into a 36V20AH pack by adding more 18650 cells. I made a video if anyone is interested in following along.

A sincere thanks to Amberwolf for all of his hardwork over many years making and keeping this forum a safe, comfortable and most of all educational resource free of annoying spam. Absolutely: Disc capable, approx 20 mph @ 36V (it's the 328 RPM model), 36V KU65 controller which I believe is 15A. Anything else?cycborg wrote:Can we get some more specifics? Disc-capable, Kv, controller voltage & current limits, etc.?

3 magic pie's for $99, while supplies last!Alan B wrote:For a moment I thought it was 3 for $99, quite an impressive discount!

For that price I'd buy my own off of myself. Local pick up too to save on shipping!

Rear MagicPie 3 for $99
I have a rear MagicPie 3 that I never got around to using. It is unlaced, so you'll have to either lace it yourself or have a local bicycle shop lace it into a rim for you. It comes with everything you need (motor, throttle, brake levers, etc) and you just have to put it in a wheel and add a battery...

Q100 20" front motor with complete kit, sans battery
I have a new in box 20" front q100 motor that comes with everything you need except for the battery (comes with controller, throttle, display, wire wrap, phase/hall wire extension, other odd and sundries that I can't even remember...) It's new but it's been sitting in a box for a year and half ...

26" Q100 motor and kit pieces
I have two 26" Q100 motors, one front and one rear, both still new and in box that have been sitting in the corner of my room for about 18 months now waiting to finally see the light of day. Both come with everything you need except battery and controller (comes with throttle, display, hall sen...

Re: Behind the scenes at Luna
Thanks Ron, that means a lot coming from you! Yes, I would love to visit Grin and do an article on them as well. I actually emailed Justin about a year ago asking if I could do an email interview to write an article just like I did about EM3EV (a free website doesn't have the budget for flights to c...

Behind the scenes at Luna
I recently wrote an article about the history of Luna, how they got started and what their future plans are. Hopefully it's an interesting read for anyone who likes learning more about the ebike community and specifically how vendors come to be.

I'll continue to post my content on E:S to pay forward the knowledge I got from here when I started, instead of directing traffic away to my own personal site which is not searchable from E:S. That's great, the more people posting on ES, the better! I have often written out long how-to posts on ES ...

Re: Where I get most of my ebike parts
Hi MacRibs, I'm sorry you think I'm whoring out. I respect your opinion, but I don't agree with it. I have no paid ads on my site (meaning I don't accept money or free parts in return for promoting something). The parts I review are all parts that I have 100% paid for, and the same goes for the part...

Where I get most of my ebike parts
I really don't want to think about how much money I've spent on ebike parts over the last decade... I really hope it's only five figures. But either way, I've bought tons of parts from all over and now have a pretty good set of standard vendors I go to for each of the many different parts and access...

Re: idea for go-baby-go button
Regarding the power, it's actually a dual motor setup, so each motor is at about 500 watts. I hit top speed while staying under my 20A CA imposed limit, so I've still got plenty of room to increase speed 4-5 mph, even if I bump up the CA limit a bit. At 20A right now, each controller and motor is pu...

idea for go-baby-go button
I'd really appreciate some feedback on an idea for a sort of "nitrous button" for my ebike. My setup is a dual motor Q100h build @14s with 20A limit for about 1000W peak and getting about 29 mph hot off the charger. My daily commute covers everything from small roads to 4 lane city highway...

Re: Cool new Triangle bag with carry strap
Hey, I like it! Neat tool. I actually got a sewing machine on aliexpress last year and it's been working great. I learned to sew and have made a number of projects, just haven't gotten around to trying my luck at a battery bag yet. That little tool would be a nice addition though. It's also probably...

Re: Cool new Triangle bag with carry strap
But another angle I’ve come up with for larger battery pack is using bag inside of a bag. In other words, battery pack goes into a normal tote bag with D rings for a shoulder strap. Next, stuff that into a EM3 triangle bag. Easy to take with me and looks “normal” which is always better for bypassin...

Cool new Triangle bag with carry strap
I'm really on the fence about this new triangle bag . It looks like a good waterproof pack, and the main advantages are 1) it is easily removable and 2) it has a carry strap. This would be good for people who are in a similar situation like me: I've got a big heavy triangle battery that is awkward t...

Re: Reliable source for Samsung 18650's is on sale
Well I've only been using them for a bit over a year now so I can't speak for anything longer than that, but so far my packs have been holding up great. You're absolutely right that these are inexpensive cells, but they are the cheapest genuine cells on the market, to my knowledge. They are Samsung'...

Reliable source for Samsung 18650's is on sale
The source where I usually get my Samsung 26F cells is having a sale , and the price per cell is down to $2.8 with free shipping. That makes a 48V10AH pack only $150. I don't know how long the price will stay that low, but wanted to give a tip to any fellow battery builders out there. Time to save s...

Re: Good cheap 36V and 48v horn
Good find, electricscooterparts is a good source. Unfortunately the shipping cost about doubles the price of the horn, so its best if you need to pick up a few parts together to save on shipping. If you don't mind waiting on shipping, here's another AliExpress vendor with free shipping and the horn ...

Good cheap 36V and 48v horn
Here's a great $3 horn that runs on 48V, with full review: http://www.ebikeschool.com/review-a-sup ... or-only-3/
EDIT: Looks like they are sold out, but another vendor has the same horn for $5 now.
There's a 36v version too but I haven't tried that one.

Can a Bafang BPM be run at 1000W peak?
Asking for a friend that wants a second opinion. He's spooked by the fact that many vendors call it a 500W motor.
Can the motor be run at 48V with a 22A controller giving a peak theoretical power draw of 1,056W? Anyone use a setup at this level and care to share your personal experience?
