Re: Bafang BPM II

Most people with the BPM have reported the clutch locking and not free wheeling as well as it should. Ie full engaged. The seals are a bit shit and only use a cheap "O" ring and rubber seal on the opposite side. The axel is a weak point where the wires go though has cracked on a few members bikes (a...

Re: Ebike Project 72V HS3540 UK "build thread"

You can get lipo chargers from the UK.
A resonable priced 10amp (200w) charger from www.giantcod.com
will cost you about £40. But least that will charge your packs in a few hours. You will need a power supply though to run it.

Re: Ebike Project 72V HS3540 UK "build thread"

Sorry to hear about your BMS battery charger issue. Its always the chance you take it buying from China at a hideously cheap price. I personally have done the same from BMS but the 240w bulk charger. Which lets face it. Isn't that quick in the realm of bulk charging. I hope mine works. But i've only...

Looks great. That's the thing with electric. If you was going that on a petrol bike you'd get in all sorts of trouble.
Electric everyone is just intrigued by it all.

Good work

Re: Bafang front wheel hub

Most if not all "Geared" hub motors have a freewheel ability that once no power is going through from the motor disengages a clutch to leave it to free wheel. It will technically still be creating a little drag but no where near the equivalent direct drive hub motor. Hub Motors http://www.explaintha...

Re: 36V controller on 48V? question

Hello Wurly, I used my BMS battery 9 fet on 44.4v lipo or 50.2v hot with no modifications. Checked the ratings ofthe Caps and Mosfets and just plugged it in and went. Wasn't fussed about the LVC as I use my own monitoring. If in doubt I always use a few more packs to make up the distance. Enjoy and ...

Re: New build - Old bike GT LTS

Only just got round to looking at your build Mel. Very good and should be alot of fun and very comfy with the full suspension. Get it on 44.4v and let it go 25mph ish and it will be alot more fun. Try not to destroy the bpm like i've done with wet weather Winter riding. Far nicer build than mine whi...

Re: Lead acid chargers with lipo

Hello,
Thanks for the above I guess I will just keep any eye on it to make sure it wouldn't go over.
It would obviously not balance but as a top up charger that's 500g it could work quite well.
Also means greater range at the higher voltage.

Re: Lead acid chargers with lipo

Thanks for the above. I keep the watt meter on it and lipo alarms to check pack voltages but it was really making sure there was no difference in the charging characteristics for using one of the chargers.

Tom,
I ran the one you'll be getting on 18s lipo. Never hit lvc on the controller though so cannot give a definitive lvc. Most the others said it was around 60v. Might be a bit higher.

Lead acid chargers with lipo

Hello All, I've long been thinking about using a standard Pb charger with my Lipo. A kind of slow bulk charger if you will to top up my batteries while at work, or act as an emergency charger when further away from home. Obviously carrying around my Lipo Balancer / Charger and Xbox Power supply are ...

Re: Bafang BPM Dirty Greasy Rusty Motor

I don't think there is anyway to avoid it completly. Maybe just periodically checking and regreasing is the only way forward. Its not particuly hard, and I did get 4000 miles out of it. It also still works. The bearings are much nicer but the clutch is dead and who knows how long the cage bearings w...

Re: Bafang Bpm, how many RPM?

This is what freaks me out a little about BMS battery.
You can get both the 36v and 48v versions in 393rpm.

Now given the rated volts @ 36v and 48v this would mean that the 36v version should be a different wind to the the 48v to enable the same rpm.

Can anyone claify this?
