Re: 12 FET Lyen's Controller and Golden Motor Hub

if you are getting really crappy performance but pulling 50A then you have the phase order incorrect, most likely blue and yellow reversed, I had the same problem. You have an unnaturally high unloaded speed as well I suspect. You will also probably note that the motor will be shitting heat as that ...

Re: Battery Mounting

Waiting for a formal quote, looking at around £30 Not sure if they will make it out of one piece of metal as a mesh and bend it into shape or side panels and then bend a 112mm wide strip to form the top bottom back and front. Either way it will be TIG seem welded, mounted on the bottle cage bolts as...

Re: Battery Mounting

Local metalshop is making me this out of 1mm aluminium to fit in the triangle of my FS frame. Holds 8 packs of 6s for 24s 2p with lots of spare space for padding and wires. Can't wait to see it.

That could store a LOT of Lipo that way, ever considered storing them length ways as groups of 3, any advantage?

mounting your LiPo width ways, This means the frame box is atleast 175mm wide right? interfere with pedalling at all, feel like you are straddling a whale?

This build looks great. I'm in the 5306 club too. I've just this week got hold of a decent full suspension frame so as soon as I've got something to show I'll put photos up. I'm going for 24s 100A

Re: My dream bike

I can identify that charger as being a 2KW BMS battery alloy shell bulk charger It also looked like he's using Avid BB5 cable brakes. You need big hydraulic breaks if you really are pumping out 12Kw. Those BB5's will be toasted in minutes if there really is 3KWh of LiPo going 55mph. Also looks like ...

Guessing it's not as water proof now with those exposed switches. For me it was the traces that burnt out, no connection to the switch at all.

Fingers crossed the replacement is a revised design.

Re: broken CA button

A new front panel is being shipped to me now thanks to Justin. Great service. the CA is an ever evolving design by the sounds of it. This particular problem with water damage to the PCB tracks seems to be a known issue with large screen CA's and justin seems confident that this is no longer an issue...

broken CA button

After 6 months of good service, the right hand button of my large screen CA has stopped responding. I got caught out in the rain on a ride and then it was in the garage for a few days, next time I tried using it, I can't reset the trip counter, which is more than a bit annoying. Is this a known prob...

Re: replacing dead hall in a MAC

errr no. blown fets doesn't produce that effect. I've had the same fault caused by a hall wire not being fully plugged in, so I'm 95% certain it's a either a hall or the hall connector. A broken phase connection produces a grunty torque-less drive, this just won't start spinning in some positions.

Re: replacing dead hall in a MAC

I bought the motor as faulty, it starts up and spins in some positions but if the motor stops in the wrong place it won't start up which suggests a dead hall. I don't have a motor tester and I'm not sure how to test with a multimeter. I took a close look and all the wires seem to be in good conditio...

Re: replacing dead hall in a MAC

Last night I took apart the mac dug out the old halls and even painted my windings. My tester showed a bad hall , but yea once I got the wires out there was cut , but it wasnt obvious to be my issue. Anyway I have to replace the halls regardless now and I have spare ones from lyen - just wondering ...

Re: FalconEV 19" triangle bag.

inside the bag I've got a plastic licence plate and used a heat gun to bend it a bit to match the curve of the bag to make a rigid floor and front that the controller screws onto. Stops everything bouncing around inside and gives a rigid surface to mount to as a removable insert

Re: FalconEV 19" triangle bag.

One thing to know is that most of the battery weight should rest on the bottom, or the top straps end up tearing off. Holding 10-20lb of battery in a vibration prone environment is tough. I'm interested in seeing how this pans out. Listen to this guy ^^ from my experience I have torn the seem where...

low cost 200W fixie friction drive

A little project I'd like to work on... a super lightweight fixie bike with a road legal 200/250W assist friction drive to make hills a little easier. Can anyone recommend any particular hardware, I'm thinking a big Turnigy outrunner is overkill. Powerplant I'd like to use would be a single pack of ...
