Re: Another Giant DH Team build but this time Clyte 4065 on
On my build thread. I pull the side covers off using wooden shims. Unscrew all the screws off the wire side cover. If some screws won't come out because of how tight they were put in leave them for last. For the screws that don't come out with the screw driver: I put the screw driver on the screw an...

How did he break the axle? the quality on these motors is real questionable isn't it man? I don't think he would have blown the controller, unless your son gunned the throttle after the axle broke. If you know someone with a 2-ton press use that to drop the old axle out and press the new axl...

Re: HS3540 BOSS BUILD. Now H4065 Boss Build
Pics to come of the new found problem and solution of these new torque arms. First glances So far, these things are freaking beefy! They are just about as thick as the ebikes.ca torque arms. It took a tiny bit of dremmeling to fit the axle, but its as tight as the ebike.ca torque arm. The one proble...

Re: biggest badest hub motor for 135mm dropout?
At 40 amps and 20s lipo, you won't be overheating the 4080 as fast as the 3540 lol. It's the best upgrade for the money from where you are at currently. I upgraded my 3540 to the 4065 and it gets warm but not as uncomfortably warm as the 3540 got. You may find that the 4080 consumes less amps at the...

Re: Cromotor vs crown? Any thoughts
The crown is now on the simulator. Check it out. It doesn't perform much better then the 5400 series motor and that with all the extra copper and wider Stator. I would say, go for the cromotor. Currently the cromotor is cheaper and you get more motor then the crown.

Re: HS3540 BOSS BUILD. Now H4065 Boss Build
I think the short one will put more stress on the caliper mount because its shorter and mechanical advantage being polar oposite against the Caliper, but I don't think it matters because the caliper bracket is designed to lock up the wheel and stop it. But wait untill you get it. They are super san...

Re: storing LIpo not doing OK
Lipo's like to be stored in cold climate at 3.8 volts and nothing plugged into them.
I had mine stored in NJ winter climate for the entire winter...... No drop in voltage what so ever. Of course the controller was unplugged from the battery.

Trackman, I don't know why you waited this long to bet Mig torquarms. Get the one in the pic, with this arm design, this one puts the least amount of torque forces on your brake mount and maximizes mechanical leverage against the axle from spinning. Rick hehe. Yeah, about that  . If I don'...

Re: GCinDC's Giant DH Comp
Uh-oh.
Ruining your new battery already I see? Looks like you got yourself a runt cell. Don't lipo's start differing in voltage past 3.7 volts, so that one cell being a lot lower then the others is expected.
No video of your commute?

I think you woul be fine upping the voltage and lowering the amps. If the 4065 is getting hot, maybe you need to limit your WOT to just a few every half hour or so. I bet this thing rips with that much power 8) . I was thinking about getting a lyen controller, but i just snapped one of my torque arm...

Thanks for the info Trackman, its especially useful at this stage with no 40xx motors on ebikes.CA/simulator . Do you know the weight difference? I suspect its 3kg or so. In the precious pages in my thread, I made a point to weigh the 4065.... With a seafood scale so I know its accurate  ....

If you are going to get a 4115 fet controller, I highly recommend getting one of Zombiess' 4115 controllers or seeing what you can do about paying him to match the fets and send EM to lyen or someone to make a controller. That will help with reliability in your controller setup.

I see you got your cover off. The holes in the center of the stator can you see the other side cover through them?. If so, just drill vent holes without disassembly further. Also, vacume out the drill shavings completely. Frill out the cover you have removed, Spray a bunch of T9 Boeshield in there ...
