Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

Wheels all built up. Will collect them tomorrow and complete my build. 19x1.85 Excel rims, V3 Cromotor and Ethirteen front hub. Beautiful build. Looks like the wheelbuilder drilled out those Excel rims at just the right angles for lacing 2 cross front and rear. Both look to have great alignment fro...

Very shapely tank in comparison!

Liking the new shed too, I remember the old microshed it replaced and the extra room must be grand :)

Re: Mystery hub motor.

Are there any markings on it at all? Check for 3 phase wires and 5 small hall sensor wires. If it has both then many brushless controllers can run it. Using a multimeter, you can check phase-phase resistance between any pair looking for open circuit (cut wire) or phase to axle to check for shorts th...

Re: 18x4 22x3 29x2 etc winding, BUT WHAT ABOUT STRANDS SIZE

It's a simplification. For the end user, strands and turns could be ignored in deciding which winding motor to run given the following info: * rpm/volt (Kv) * weight of copper windings (grams) This way you can choose the winding variant to match your required speed (if battery voltage is inflexible)...

Re: Aussie 200 Watt Limit Thread

It is commonly known that Canberra is more perverse than the other states, but mixing politicians with lycra and ebikes is just too much! Those are members of the Riders on the Hill parliamentary cycling group test riding ebikes (some for the first time no doubt) after their morning non-electric ri...

Those are blowout specials on unpopular colours / sizes / drillings. People are just trying to clear stock out (and have been for a while)

Fortunately they suit high power ebikers and are a bargin if you don't mind some wacky colours.

Re: Is it possible to build an e-bike to go for 180km

If the riders are that strong, big deal, Sagan could ride the leg on 250wh. Who cares how far a pro athlete can pedal a too heavy bike? But what's the point of an ebike challenge when from the outset the riders are required to stay below speeds that pedal cyclists exceed? You'll need to scout that ...

Re: Is it possible to build an e-bike to go for 180km

I averaged 160 km when riding from Perth-Sydney with 2kWh of lithium. Out of 35 days riding, 11 were distances of 180km or greater. So it's certainly possible to do that distance on 2kWh but rough roads, signifiant climbs or headwinds will necessitate a larger pack unless you pedal hard! The rules o...

I purchased an Australian made kit to keep jobs here. The Chinese kits I have seen are cheaper, have a better finish and better quality control. We have to do better if Australian business is to survive the cheap imports. I would be very surprised if you can find any "Australian made" motors , batt...

Re: Bosch Intuvia display

First is to loosen the mounting bracket that holds the display or remove the bracket from the bike completely. It has a very low torque spec so if it's been overtightened it can cause the bracket to warp and not make proper contact with the display. That has been tried now, and didn't solve it. Imp...

Re: Bosch Intuvia display

Second would be to take your bike to a bike shop that has Bosch powered models and ask if they will let you try one of their displays in your bike. If your remote works fine using their display, then you know only your display is at fault. Theses things are a nightmare. They're programmed individua...

What happened to those "Haiyin" 6Ahr, 67C, pouch cells that "Evodragracer" was using in his " Warpfactor 3" drag car ? I know they fell on their face at anything approaching max discharge, but I recall they could output 240A (40C) and hold 3+ volts for a while . Ron's pages seem to lead to dead lin...

I chanced across something recently which may be of interest to Ted & others... Packaging everything into a sportsbike alloy twin-spar frame can be tricky but going for a custom trellis frame like Voltron Evo can be expensive. Perhaps there's a happy medium from the stunt bike world called 'steel ha...

Re: The wheel-building spoke-lacing thread, post your tips

Re: lacing patterns:A good rule of thumb is that 700c and most 26" rim and hub motor combinations can use cross-1, and that 20" and 24" wheels usually must use radial lacing, or else the rim holes must be modified to allow the nipple to tilt more than normal. With non-eyeletted rims and Sapim's Pol...

Controller: Rinehart PM100DX – $5000.00 This will run the Emrax at a minimum of 160V, which is about the highest I care to run the system at, though pretty low in terms of getting the most out of this motor. This would allow up to a 300V system, which I can move to at a later time. It also is a con...
