Re: Question on battery and charger

Never charge Lipo while sleeping, even with a timer! Doing that is an accident waiting to happen!

Re: New CellLog-based BMS "Lite"...

I've been reading through this (and alot of other threads) and trying to understand (i guess I could call myself an educated noob on the subject). I want to build a 24s3p pack and fire safety for me is a great concern, thats why I think a bms like this is just the thing I need, the problem is, I ha...

Re: 150mm dropouts

150mm dropout width is mostly found on swingarms of expansive DH bikes. Most of them are back to 135mm this year, many with through axle. Lightweight rule. You can find at a good price, the older DH bikes with 150mm dropout swingarms. You can also buy the wide swingarm as a spare part, and for most...

150mm dropouts

Is there a bike frame that has 150mm dropouts that does not cost 3000$ (norco DH, intense...etc) Stretching my 135mm to me is not a good idea :(

Re: paint

I found a bike paint shop in my area. To strip off the paint, they use media blasting. What they do is blast very gently with little grains of plastic. Using sand could damage the frame. I think you can use nutshells too.

Re: paint

I wouldn't strip unless you must, like it's sooo chipped up and trashed everywhere or 5 coats of spray can crud. A good scuff with 200 grit or such will be fine. I'd still advocate a primer, then the paint. If you must go to bare metal, I really liked 3m brand paint remover wheels. Sort of a pad of...

Re: Keyne's DH Comp Build

Hi, I am about to do 2 DH Comp builds. I intend to make all the conversion parts available. I will be designing a sheetmetal case to fit the frame for LIPO. I will make this available as either folded up and complete ready to go or DXF and folding plans for your local sheet metal shop with laser. I...

Re: Keyne's DH Comp Build

The carbon frame would have changed everything - but if I was doing it again with a DH comp I would have used a 2005 version for its 150mm dropout swingarm.I would have made a proper mold for the panels and vacuum bagged them. I would have used different paint. Possibly lighter dropouts (if I could...

Re: Air flow : in or out?

I'd run it first and feel the motor for heat often as you learn the hill limits. It's current that results in heat, not voltage unless you end up bogging the motor down. I weigh 250lbs and my daily rider ebike weighs 125lb plus often another 25lbs in my backpack, and I can hit 60mph on the highway ...

Re: Air flow : in or out?

I was thinking about drilling holes on my side covers and maybe adding some vents (I'm still thinking about how to do that). Then I asked myself, if I want my motor to stay cool, do I force the hot air out or force cold air in??? Any opinions or suggestions??? The air inside is spinning, so centrif...

Re: LIPO parallel balance harness question

Thanks EBJ!!! During the off season, I will be converting to LIPO. I'm still deciding on what I want. I saw El_Steak's amazing 24s 3p build a couple of weeks ago, we live in the same city. Check out his threads, there is a lot learn.

LIPO parallel balance harness question

How does the charger or LVC-HVC board can detect the voltage of every individual cell in a pack when the balance harness is set up for parallel charging? I've been trying to find a thread on this without any success.

LIPO diagrams

Hi everyone. Getting ready to switch to LIPO. I have seen hundreds of pics, read thousands of posts and trying to put it all together. If any of you LIPO users could post diagrams of your charge/discharge setups I would greatly appreciate it. Looking at pictures with a bunch of wires together can be...

If you dont mind using side saddles on that type of bike, there is a company that makes rear racks for rear suspension bikes. A bit pricey but...i guess you get what you pay for. http://www.oldmanmountain.com/

Rshunt value on crystalyte controller

Hello everyone, I'm trying to find out the Rshunt value on my new sensorless crystalyte 48v 45a controller. Unfortunately, there are no specs that came with it. Also, I think the people at Crystalyte dont know either. I know there is a way of doing this with an adjustable powersupply but I dont know...
