Re: no load test, what happened???

i cant really test with another controller. when i turn it on though, i hear a click sound in the motor wich seems pretty odd. first time i've ever heard that when turning on the controller.

no load test, what happened???

i was testing for phase/hall combination. as soon as i see the amps going up, i let go of the throttle and realize that i have a bad combo. then, nothing!!! no throttle response, but the ca is still on. what happened??? also when i turn the wheel by hand, it feels weird like one of the magnets is re...

Re: pulse width modulation in controllers

I'm asking this because I have a 100 volt bike, 24 fet controller, and 22 (outer diameter) inch wheels in a 9Kv(approx) cromotor/hubzilla. The thing is, my commute has some spots where i need to slow down because of traffic, pedestrians, bike paths. Can I damage my bike because of this? I would hate...

Re: pulse width modulation in controllers

Ok thanks!!! Does this mean that going too slow for a certain setup creates resistance in the mosfets and it is tranfered to heat?

pulse width modulation in controllers

i have a basic understanding of PWM in controllers, I read somewhere that if your controller is always in PWM, it is working too hard it will heat up fast. When is it not in PWM? How does it work?

Re: Fractal's Norco A-line build

I've been a bit concerned with the heat my controller was generating after each ride. After all, 40 amp current and 120 phase limit is pretty low. Well, after a bit of research and postings, turns out that these settings are causing the problem. The 120 phase is too high in relation to the 40 limit....

If go with 80 amps, and not ride wot all the time, it would still get hot?

Re: how hot does your controller get?

Somebody was pointing out to me that the fact that i'm limiting current on such a high power setup can be the source of the problem. The cromotor/hubzilla demands a lot so the FETS have to work hard to limit the current and could be the source of the heat. Any opinions on this?

how hot does your controller get?

I've been running a Lyen 24 fet controller with with very conservative settings. 40 current and 120 phase. After an easy ride (2000 watts max and not faster than 45 kmh). the controller gets pretty hot. I can keep my hands on it, but if it were a bit hotter, i would not last a couple of seconds. Jus...

Re: Throttle interface for sensitive high power setups

Subscribed! That is an awesome idea. Its really hard to control at low speed. Especially near people and traffic, it can be a bit scary. Will follow this one closely! Thanks Zombiess!

Re: Fractal's Norco A-line build

went out for a test ride today. i decided to use conservative settings on the controller. current :40 phase : 120 speed : 70 kmh (in like 2 seconds, maybe 3) holy shit  it pulls real hard! level of satisfaction :  when i put more current, this thing is going to be insane. the bike fe...

Re: Fractal's Norco A-line build

Got those battery boxes done!!! I used thick ABS sheets and welded the whole thing together with that yellow cement (got a free buzz too  ). Its super strong, the cement creates a bond between the ABS parts. There is also an opening for wire clearance. check it out:

Re: HT Norko Aline - Finally with HD video + forced air/mx r

that totally sucks! I'm going to have to read a bit more on mid drives, I know nothing about them. Are you using the stock rear shock that came with the A-line (Fox DHX 3.0). What does it say on the spring? it should say : ... X 3.25. If it says 300 X 3.25, then maybe the coil is too soft????

Re: Need your opinion e-solex / Hubzilla

Bonjour (du Québec)!!! In my opinion, these motors are maybe too powerful for a bike like this. Do you have pictures of the dropouts and swingarm of this bike? Looks like you would need extensive modifications to fit a big hub on this bike because of the exrta weight of the batts and motor. You woul...

Nice work Fractal :) Pieces look great. What was the weight estimated by the software? I believe each pieces will be around 2 lbs ea. I don't know much about the Hot Rolled Steel, will rust be an issue? Thanks Adam, i'm not sure about the weight, i'll ask the engineer. Yes, if left untreated HRS ca...
