Re: Vector. New 5.4 kW ebike from scratch.
Wow it seems like everyone is getting the frame. I might capitulate and get one myself. Seems like a good deal, though I would like it with a Fox shoxx fork, rear suspension, and crank. So all I would need is front wheel, brakes, throttle, controller, battery and rear motor.

Re: Nissan Leaf Cells Test Data
John, in terms of number of cuts and wires required, I think it is the same. Your design have 4 cuts and 2 wires. Doing it the original way will also have 4 cuts and 2 wires. The only benefits I can see for your design is reuse of the screw tab terminal, which is a big plus compared to the soldering...

Re: New 2C HK multistar batteries sneak peak (Double down)
333Wh/kg when the best 18650 energy cells are ~250Wh/kg? Seems fishy... It's quite possible after reading this http://www.gizmag.com/envia-systems-record-lithium-ion-battery/21653/ Maybe this will force the 18650 producers to step into Li-S chemistry. If you read up on envia, they turned out to be ...

Re: Who else is in the 5,000 miles or more in a year club?
7600 miles so far on TC-80 over 1.5 year period though I had about 3 months down time due to spoke problems. I easily do over 5000 miles per year even if you factor in the few rainy days in the year I take my car. Batteries are showing some kind of wear, but it should still be good for many more mil...

Brammo empulse $9995 USD New.
Not my sale, but if people don't know, brammo is selling empulse 2013 new if you can find one from a dealer for $9995. Here is the link direct from their website: https://www.brammo.com/buy/ Seems like stealth needs to lower their price to compete. LOL. I kid, but it is good to see lower price on el...

Re: Turnigy Multistar - lightweight 10C cells
The capacity between 4.2 and 4.1 is about 800-900mah. So thats what you loose by under charging the battery. Wow! For a 10Ah pack that is 90%. Kind of hard to give up that 10% capacity just for the sake of longevity. But again it all depends on what your usage is. Most people running lipo usually b...

Please don't play with lipo if you don't know what you are doing.
I highly recommend you read up on battery series and parallel before going any further.

Re: Schwalbe Big Apples are not great
For the puncture proof thing, get inner lining, thicker tube with slime inside of possible and use double rim tape. Also make sure you put them on properly. Sometime there can be a pinch on the tube and that can be the cause of the flats. Have you tried these ideas? Curious as to your experience. •...

Re: Schwalbe Big Apples are not great
Big apple do wear out faster if they are on the rear. I put mine in the front for grip and they will last probably over 20K miles. I have 7K miles on them already and they look bearly worn. I run maxxis hookworm on the rear and they last around 4-5K miles on my setup. For the puncture proof thing, g...

Re: Turnigy Multistar 10C 10AH versus Allcell pack compariso
Changing the car's oil at home will always be cheaper compared getting it changed at the dealer. But it is not for everyone. Just be open minded and know maintaining lipo is not for everyone. I am sure if someone who wanted these pack would've gotten them and there is no need dissing another type of...

Re: Turnigy Multistar 10C 10AH versus Allcell pack compariso
You are comparing different purpose battery. Allcell are used for low power reliable high cycles safe high cost scenarios. Hobbyking is for relatively low cost, unsafe, compact, DIY, unreliable, low charge cycles scenarios. What I would use HK lipo on? An experimental quick setup, potentially high p...

Re: Zippy Multistar - lightweight 10C cells
Im not sure I would risk these new cells just yet. Mine arrived with 11 cells at 3.92v and 1 at 3.84. Thats around 500ma of self discharge. Hobbyking said they should send me a new one but I couldnt take a clear enough picture and refused. They say I need to balance it and it will be fine. After ha...

Re: Zippy Multistar - lightweight 10C cells
Dealing with HobbyKing is dealing with crooks. Everyone knows the one cell is bad and they need to replace it. No way can balance fix that. In the long run, it will crap out faster and faster. HobbyKing just need to check the cell before shipping out, but because they rather have you eat their shit ...

Well vector have one thing going for them in terms of price. They don't use the vboxx gear like the bomber does. Right there you can save $1500. But they do have their work cut out for them because even without the vboxx shifter, they still need to cut price somehow. The only way I can see now of do...

Get 5 packs of nissan leaf battery and convert them to 4s1p. Then put them in series for 72V25Ah battery for around $600. Re: Zippy Multistar - lightweight 10C cells
I'll have to wait for IceCube data, but I suspect these are going to be pretty shitty. But hey 12s10Ah for $200 give or take is a good way for starter/ultra low cost Ebikes. You would still need a good 12s charger or something. Buy this is still way too expensive compared to the Nissan leaf battery ...

Re: best way to store batteries while waiting on funding??
It is definitely NOT 3.5 per cell unless it is LiFePO4. And even LiFePO4 idles around 3.2V. So I don't know where the previous get 3.5V per cell. For RC lipo, I recommend storing in cool area at storage voltage for prolong storage. I would recommend between 3.85V to 3.9V per cell for Lipo battery. B...

I would love to do cross-country tours. I just don't have the money or time. : ( Again the job thing... But I would do it on a recumbent trike. I would carry at least 5KWh of lithium batteries and have a 1.4KW charger. That would guarantee me the 200 miles a day. Good luck and we all here are lookin...
