Re: Specialized Big Hit FSR with midmount

much the same suspension idea as on DH comp that so many on here are sporting. The ransom was my first full susser build. havent uploaded a pic of it recently but i installed some girvin girder forks with a fox float in the head of the suspension. It give a cool moto feel to the ride and is good on ...

Re: Specialized Big Hit FSR with midmount

I would defo be up for a UK ride out. Ive got a scott ransom with a magic pie and a norco with some dr bass torque arms ready to go 72 volts. In awe of your work here Tench, nice to see some finished articles in the UK. want to build a norco savage with a 80/100 but dont have yet have the mad skills...

Re: Making a small variable linear supply for DC bulk charge

I think the take home message is dont go down the buck regulator route. Pretty sure Ill get the V3 limiters hooked in to these supplies once i get one built up. Ive been looking into diodes to prevent the battery charging the supply in the event of the breaker tripping. Do i only need diodes which w...

Re: Making a small variable linear supply for DC bulk charge

Thanks for the prompt reply and clear explanation AW, I think im going to trial the v3 limiter, have got the pcb from fechter/degull on order. having issues getting the £2.36 worth of components from mouser without incurring a £12 delivery fee. Ironically orders over £50 are free delivery. I may hav...

Re: Making a small variable linear supply for DC bulk charge

Thanks Amberwolf, I have a few questions? Essentially what you probably want to build amounts to the same thing as a brushed motor controller, only with a filter capacitor/inductor on the output instead of a motor. Has what Amberwolf has said above been done by anyone here on ES with these server po...

Re: Making a small variable linear supply for DC bulk charge

Ok I confess at this point I'm going to have to both read up on buck convertors, ask a friend and reevaluate what I need. not sure if linear is a prerequisite but it seems to be the method others on ES have used to build bulk chargers for lipo.

Re: Making a small variable linear supply for DC bulk charge

heathyoung - not sure I understand your statement. Do you mean I will have to heavily heat sink the lm317? or do you mean it will run too hot to function as intended? Ive heard of lots of people running these server bricks in series and using a linear supply to achieve the cc/cv total voltage. What ...

Making a small variable linear supply for DC bulk charge

I have been looking for bench/lab power supplies to use in my bulk charging situation. I have found a few on ebay which are biggish bulky types 0-30v typically max 2 amps, some are better amps. im in the UK and the cheapest is probably going to cost about £40. I have invested in 20 hp 12v 30a server...

Re: Modified HP194989-001 PSU's for series 24v ++ lipo charg

OK so just bought 18 more PSUs. My aim build two bulk chargers 8 x psu for 24s charging. or three 6 x psu for 18s or four 4 x psu for 12s plus they are hotswapable and its nice to have spares. I have a plan for an adapter to quickly ground the correct pins instead of lots of soldering. need now to s...

Ac isolation is not necessary and is a bad idea. Don't want 230 volts mains floating on the case

Very tidy description and build, im going to have to do much the same retrospectively of my builds as im terrible at documenting as i go. Thanks Psycholist, you were half right exactly. I took apart on of the power supplies last night after doing the 2nd interlock solderings, Now they both output 12V. There was no need to connect together all 4 grounds cause they are interconnected anyway tested with a continuity multimeter setting. B...

Thanks for the find GaryJS Ordered two of these a while back with the idea of doing the mod in your pdf.
