Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

Just a warning regarding the ITXH180, they are limited to 75A by the max allowed leg current... They can probably do 180A pulses or something but only 75A RMS, so at low motor speed (maybe motor stuck ?) they are limited to 75A phase current.

Thanks emmgee for pointing this out to me :)

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

Any suggestions for replacing, it's out of Digikey stock: supply cap 270uF 3 565-4018-ND ? Is ripple current important or are the basic parameters enough (capacitance, voltage and dimensions)? BTW, ACS770-150B is pretty hard to find from other shops (Digikey stocks 2+k) I would just make a list at ...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

For those thinking about stacking multiple power boards, there is a nice application note here on how to combine the outputs of current sensors. https://www.google.ru/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0ahUKEwjAodrlsO7YAhULiywKHfOQBygQFggwMAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.allegromicro.com%2F~%2Fme...

Re: Specific heat absorption capacity of disc brakes

I have good regen  just not on this bike. This one is a non-ebike which I use 2-3 times a week to climb the local 350 m high hills. Then on the descent I am lightly on the brakes to keep speed around 40 kmh. I am happy that I didnt do a strong brake action, pushing through the rim locking t...

Re: Specific heat absorption capacity of disc brakes

I agree with Chalo about rim brakes... I mean disc brakes are getting larger and larger diameter, only a few more years till the disks are as large as the rims.... at which point everyone will realise rim brakes are basically disc brakes with the biggest disk possible. just went through the...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

Would there be interest in an explanaition of how I look at an IPM motor ? It will involve lots of vectors and some math (trigonometry) but on a rather basic highschool level (I am a simpel dude). But it explains the comment / questions from Kiwifiat and why some IPM's are better for fieldweakening....

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

Also for an IPM you want Id (i had to look that one up because all throught my code I use different terms, i use real and imaginary like you have with complex number theory) to be 0. But it depends on motor design and phase difference between saliency and backemf.... The algo i use automatically goe...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

Another stupid question : Will this run an induction motor? Nope, it runs BLDC and IPM (my own private FOC algorithm I use actually runs the Switched Reluctance part of an IPM motor correctly (so at max efficiency)). It should also run an SR motor for as long as you don't remove the throttle curren...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

Great thanks. I'll do some more experiments. I'm keen to get a solution for using ev motor resolvers. Any plans for digitally interfacing a resolver to digital converter? At the moment not... all pins on the chip are in use so there's just nowhere to connect to. I am thinking about switching over t...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

Hex attached Some suggestions that should improve things: In the PWM menu you have a) PWM frequency: 8kHz b) deadtime: 1999ns c) dutycycle testsignal: 1748% d) toggle high side polarity, now active HIGH e) toggle low side polarity, now active HIGH f) test PWM signals g) autocomplete h) loop sample ...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

Reduced the braking currents to zero and I can now accelerate the motor in calibration mode. Drive 2 and 3 leds stay on but no matter how long i wait all the leds don't activate. Seems like calibration is not happening for some reason. Are you sure the motor can reach the set speed for the measurem...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

Electrical rpm is basically the frequency of the sine waves going to the motor (but per minute, not per second). The ratio with the motor rpm depends on the amount magnets in the rotor (not the poles in the stator). Typically the ratio is the number of magnets divided by two (= amount of 'pole pairs...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

Ok fixed that (rtfm!). Now have a howling motor so need to start playing with settings:) Hexes are not portable from one version to the next, so after updating you have to start the whole setup menu process from scratch. Variables will have moved to different locations in the hex, some will have be...

To get better starting sensorless you need to experiment a bit with the wiggle rate and range in the miscellaneous menu (option n from the main menu i believe)
