Re: Hyena's e-bike builds (now with HD video)
YM-0xr2lGAY Hey isn't that motor from hyenas beach cruiser sale thread... How did you do that?.... Maybe a playing card and a clothes peg in the spokes would work for noisemaking... grinder.jpg The covers came out nice though :P sanded-H35.jpg I came goddam close to dissemboweling myself with a gri...

Re: Hobbit's Rans Fusion
Yeah, hobbyking website, Australian warehouse.. Hover over price ended up like $89 or so and delivered about 3 days after ordering. I've thought about strengthening them for a little while and the improvements my mate and I are capable of would be minimal. I'm led to believe welding would weaken thi...

Re: Hobbit's Rans Fusion
so here's my holey dropout when it was freshly sanded back ready for DrBass torque arms. It's 7005 aluminium but with the swiss cheese effect (why do they do that? ) I'm kinda nervous...we'll see. http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k630/paulk1973/2012bikePhotos007.jpg?t=1337255575 On a plus ...

Re: Hobbit's Rans Fusion
It's a 4080 MUHAHAHAHA. The plan "this week" is 4080 for starters then pull it off when my 24' spokes arrive 5404 goes in briefly while I lace up the 4080 in a 24' with a 3' Nirve fatass. I'll measure top speeds and acceleration and stuff for comparison...Another week or two...

Playing with my laser with a rapid sweeping motion it quite clearly shows the shape of things a long way in the distance beyond the headlight range and I thought something like this could be cool for a terminator style view of the road ahead  That is an exceptionally good idea! -JD But I t...

Re: 5404/5403 The good The bad The ugly
I got two of these motors. And the first one I installed had a blown bearing out of the box. So, with the dodgy way the wires exit the hub, and my blown bearing, I was initially one of the not so happy ones complaining about QC control lol. However, after putting my second motor into my bike, and a...

Ah, thanks guys, yes, I went to a local bike shop and picked up the 3/32' size 16t and fits the thread and the chain like a glove. It was quite novel, walking into a shop and walking out with the goods instead of googling this and googling that and getting it in the mail and it's not quite what I'm a...

Re: ES & Internet Relay Chat
I was involved in a forum once that only had 12 active members. We had chat night once a week and at least 4 would show up. My two cents would be, if this happens maybe pick a start time ( and dozens will show, guaranteed.) that is Internationally friendly.... Right now it's about 4am depending on w...

*cough* speaking of freewheels, would anyone know offhand where one might pick up a threaded freewheel, same thread as these rystalytes but with ½" x 3/32" cog dimensions instead of BMX(?). That way I could run the 3 speed front, single speed rear with front and rear derailiers. Seems like...

On that note, I got the opportunity to duck out few a few hours yesterday and it was a nice day so took it down the beach.Being a public holiday the place was packed and probably 1 in 5 people walking along the esplanade stopped to ask me about the bike. I really should become a stealth dealer, I r...

I love that avatar suggestion Full-throttle, but I am concerned that it doesn't do justice to my technique. It makes it look like I just get in there like I am eating a tasty icecream, there is so much more going on than that. At the same time, I don't think I could have an avatar that gave an accu...

Looks a great platform Hobbit. Disc front & rear are a major+ I searched for one of these used, to no avail. More comfortable platform than the Miyata I settled on, for "Ghetto" my commuter. Ive read a few good reviews of the Fusion. Comfortable pedaling cruiser. I love the look. Like...

Hobbit's Rans Fusion
So with the imminent delivery (finally) of the Crystalite group buy I thought it about time to start a first build thread. I've "procured"a Rans fusion. Some say I retrieved it from the side of the road on hard rubbish day. Abandoned, I took it under my wing and nursed it back to h...

Yeah, I went in there a little while ago and asked for lipo. Guy pulled out a brick for about twice the price listed on the website. I held up my smartphone web browser (like a wanker) and said I was after "these" pointing to the 8000mAh stuff. he was all like "nah, dude, we're trying...
