Re: GoldenMotor MP3 install on KHS mountain bike.

[ Wow does this thing ever attract attention. I thought it was whisper quiet for the most part but I passed by a concrete wall yesterday and the sound bounced back at me. I thought the wheel had started rubbing on the rear bag again so I stopped to check. People can definitely hear you coming and go...

Re: 100 mile ebike @ 30mph constant on flats without headwin

FIrst off, no gas/diesel powered bikes. It defeats the point. I also don't want a scooter as one cannot go on bike lane or bike trails if I need to. Remember the goals is to do cross country biking not cross-country scootering or motorcycling. LOL. For one thing, calling someone a troll who's just ...

Re: A2B Metro - www.ultramotor.com - Video Page4

[quote="deepfraught"]joepah do you have any of the old motors/controllers that were replaced? I'm looking for one to have in hand to compare against the Australian 15mph limited version I have here, in case it's a jumper position on the board. Failing that, a working USA one in hand would mean plan ...

Re: 100 mile ebike @ 30mph constant on flats without headwin

You should forget about building an e bike and just build a scooter. A company that i considered investing in, XTremeGreen, offers such a scooter... They call it an electric motorcycle but it's a scooter. http://www.xgpinc.com/pdf/xrider.pdf Their scooter will go 100 miles @ 35 mph with a top speed ...

Re: A2B Metro - www.ultramotor.com - Video Page4

The whole soft start makes it not worth the hassle and potential over-heating of the internal controller at 48v imo. Yes, it works.. but no it's not right. This thing really needs to be opened up and gutted.. The motor has plenty of potential as a 3000~5000w rig, but needs a proper external control...

Re: A2B Metro - www.ultramotor.com - Video Page4

On newer A2B Metros the controller was moved from the motor hub to the bike frame, since that was a source of numerous motor replacements. My motor has been replaced 5x in 3 years for that very reason. So someone could modify the controller to get the American 500W+ motor power or more with an on de...

Re: Holmes' A2B Metro Review

Replace the awful Kenda tires with moped tires: UltraMotor found that Shinko SR714 DOT approved tire, 2,25x16 works well, and doesn't puncture like the uber soft Kenda. Thanks for the tips. I just changed the tires to these Shinko SR14, and it is like a new bike. I live in St Augustine, Florida and...

Re: 48v 15 ah V2 pingbattery at 225 cycles.

I think it's safe enough to say that the best cycle life from any cell of any chemisty is obtained by conservative c rates and conservative depth of discharge. A LOT depends on how those bikes are ridden. Bet the Doc's family rides less agressive than the Doc does. You can easily ride all day at 30...

Thanks to Wineboyrider and Dogman for your advice. Websites for the motors and controllers you mentioned are on this forum somewhere i'm sure.

Re: 48v 15 ah V2 pingbattery at 225 cycles.

"I purchased a brushed sparrow motor from them several years ago and they are very honest, but a bit overpriced last I looked. You can get a crystalyte watt hog for sure, but how fast do you want to go?" Their prices do seem high, but it's a kit and they make you pay. Also checked with SanDiegoElect...

Re: 48v 15 ah V2 pingbattery at 225 cycles.

I agree 100 percent... So what you're saying is that you're getting reliable battery life with controller set at 22A? I could buy a 48V 30AH battery set, and that should handle a 40 amp load, or not?

Re: Holmes' A2B Metro Review

I have a 2009 a2b Metro with around 4000 miles on it, and ride it just about every day around Miami FL. Read with some amusement the findings and they seem fair. I could list the number of components that have been replaced, but that would seem like whining and diminish the overall satisifaction I h...

Re: 48v 15 ah V2 pingbattery at 225 cycles.

Glad to hear Ping's batteries are reliable and maintaining their capacity.. I was going to buy a system from him in 2009 but was talked out of it by ElectricRider, who didn't believe Ping's battery could reliably provide 40amps @48V for very long. It may have been before V2. His prices have increase...
