I finally met an ebiker.

I was coming home from a ride and saw a guy on an Ezip Trails. I made a U turn and caught up to him. We ended up talking for a few minutes and it looks like he might buy my unused sla from my Currie kit. I also introduced him to the forum so maybe we'll get a new member.

Re: Has anyone grinded off black paint from their hub?

You could always just paint over the black paint with white or maybe another light colored spray paint. Scraping the black off just sounds like an unnecessary and tedious task.

Re: Two motor 201 rear 328 front 24V system?

Somehow, inadvertently, I managed to match the speed and power of two completely different styles of motors on my bike. The front hub kit is a 36V kit that I'm running at 48V with a 48V 450W controller. The rear is a Currie kit that is 24V and I'm running it at 36V with a 36V 500W non-currie control...

Re: What do you commuters do about rain?

Speaking of rain, I had "fun" riding in quite a bit of it yesterday. I had the sudden urge to eat some "Wienerschnitzel" so I hopped on my bike in what started out as a sprinkle. The sprinkle turned into much harder, icy rain and high wind. Luckily I had my rear battery and controller covered in a p...

Re: Micro Chargers - Kids Toy

That would be an interesting idea for the newer cars that use electric power when starting from a stop to accelerate the car to speed to save on gas. Use big capacitors in place of batteries and have the capacitors get topped off from an alternator or something as the car drives around in between st...

Re: Ebike Haters?????

This is why I'm glad I'm big and scary looking. A guy actually pulled up next to me a couple of days ago in his car, asked me how fast my bike was, I told him 30-35 mph and he said that it was awesome and drove off.

If you happen to cruise through San Bernardino you might see me out riding which is an almost everyday occurrence for me. I'll be the only guy in the whole city on an e-bike lol.

If I knew where you lived I'd offer to sell you my 24V 10Ah lithium battery from my Ezip Skyline that I don't use any more because I broke the bike frame. It would definitely lighten your load.I If you want to do an upgrade to higher voltage you could try this controller and throttle combo, http://w...

Re: Question about a potentiometer

Thank you for the description. Is there any other device I can run in line between the battery and the controller to step the voltage down to about 42V so it'll work with the controller? Would a dc to dc inverter work or is what I'm using to high of a voltage for one?

Question about a potentiometer

I bought a controller to use with my Currie 24V 450W chain driven bike motor. It's not a Currie controller but so far it works fine. The controller is this one http://tncscooters.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=41_74&product_id=498. I had to run the lock connector wire in line with the posi...

Re: OMG this texting b*#ch needs to be in jail

I ride pretty much every day and on every ride I see someone texting or talking on their phone including San Bernardino police officers. Now I don't yell at the officers but I do yell at everyone else to get off their f---ing phone. If their windows are rolled up, I just yell louder and point at the...

Allows you to quickly merge in and out of traffic to get around slower riders without having to worry so much about getting nailed from behind by a motorist who isn't paying attention.

Your phase wires are probably crossing at the controller or one of them is partially disconnected. Unless of course you've already checked that out then I'm not sure.

Re: Hub motors vs mid-drives: is unbiased comparison possibl

I've got a front hub kit and a rear currie kit. I'm running the front at 48V and the rear at 36V. The top speed is about 25-30 mph and it can climb pretty steep street and dirt roads with very little assist from me. The acceleration is awesome and I can shoot across most intersections in a couple of...

What are the limitations on the power of the motors where you live? You could always go with both a front and rear kit. I think the limitation is per motor.

I just had a blast!!!!!!

I got to ride up a dirt road I haven't gone up in over a decade. There's this road in the San Bernardino mountains/foothills called Cloud-line that hang-gliders and para-gliders use to get up and then jump from. It's also used by mountain bikers and hikers. The last time I rode up it, I was a hundre...

Will sprockets from similar internally geared hubs work on it? I just ask because I know they have some Shimano sprockets on there.

I'd be even more encouraged to build e-bikes. I'd use the savings on larger capacity packs, better motor kits and a nice durable full suspension mountain bike frame.

Re: First build: Stealth push trailer

Why not just get a small geared front hub kit with a touring trailer? My trailer can hold up to 70 lbs and I use it for grocery trips. A geared front hub motor is about the size of a drum brake so it should be pretty stealthy.

Water ballooning incident just now!!!!!!!

I was on my way home after my ride when four punk high school kids in a white Honda civic through a water balloon at me. Little did they know I was on an e-bike so I had a merry time chasing them around a neighborhood I am extremely familiar with. The area we were in is uphill and downhill so they k...
