Re: I just got an ebikekit battery

I installed and went for my test ride a little while ago. It died after about 10 miles. I'm using it with ebikekit's DD front hub kit with lcd monitor. It lost power one time during the ride even though it was still registering 5 bars. Turned it off and on and it started working again. It dropped do...

I just got an ebikekit battery

I received this battery today, E-BikeKit™ 48v10ah LiFePO4 Lithium Electric Bike Battery. I was wondering if anyone else has used it? I haven't installed or used it yet but that'll be done tomorrow. This thing's huge for a 10ah battery. I'm glad I got the rack for it otherwise I'm not sure how I'd mo...

Re: Assistance with Ryobi 48v mower conversion

That last diagram looks like it's wired in parallel and not series. You've got two reds going to one connection and two blacks going to the other. You're supposed to have the batteries - out, + to -, + out for a series connection to get 48V.

Re: Oh, now WHAT could this New Tesla Product be?

Watch it be an electric bike. The article says it won't be an electric car but it doesn't say it won't be another form of electric transportation.

Couple of tricks I figured out.

I had this problem with my rear wheels that no matter what kind of rim liner I used my tubes would slip and the stem would shear off. I finally fixed this by using 100 lb double sided Loctite wall mounting tape. I wrapped the rim, put the rim liner in, tube and tire and no more slipping tube. Also I...

Not if you weight the rims to roll forward when the car stops and counter weight them to keep them from rolling backward when the car accelerates.

How wide are your tires? Ebikes tend to be a more comfortable ride with wider tires.

Re: Hello!!!

Why don't you go for the golden motor kit on bmsbattery.com? Higher range of voltages, more powerful motor, less wires. I have e-bikekit's front direct drive hub kit on my mountain bike and I do a serious amount of off road on it. Some of these guys don't like front hub kits for off road but I don't...

Re: How does controller know bike speed?

It senses it from the motor. You don't need the pas sensor. The pas sensor is for pedal assist which works by attaching a magnetic ring and sensor to the bottom bracket. It then senses your pedal cadence when you're pedaling and engages the motor. I have a similar more expensive kit and the odometer...

Re: Prices on Bafang 8Fun all over map!

If you pay close attention to the prices on the ebay listings you'll notice that the free shipping items actually have the shipping cost figured into the price. Just look for too similar products one with free shipping and one with shipping coming from China and you'll see what mean.

Re: One Good marketing Plan is all we need

That's so weird, I was thinking of the exact same thing. After having read through the responses on this thread, I'm a little disappointed. You guys jumped right to the negative aspects of the idea. In reality the negatives are the positives. Sure we all build our bikes to suit our needs but somewhe...

Re: Fire at ebikes-sf

Build a small canister of fire retardant into a battery pack. Pack catches fire, fire touches canister, and the canister bursts flooding the pack with fire retardant.

Re: bad buckle

If you get it rebuilt, get it built into the widest rim you can safely squeeze between your brakes. It'll handle impacts better and be able to support more weight.

I do the ebike stuff and I spend a good chunk of my time online doing rewards sites for paypal money and gift cards because I have no job and can't work anymore. I also spend a lot of time mentally mulling over weird ideas and then posting them on here to see if they're feasible. I also want to star...

You could bolt it together and reinforce everything with thread lock and then JB weld it if you don't plan on taking it apart ever. You could use some of that epoxy that Doctor Bas uses.

Re: Is the twist throttle offer better control than thumb?

When I use a thumb throttle I tend to attach it so that the throttle sits up at an angle. This keeps my thumb from hurting and it gives me more control. I also mount it on the left side in between my grip shift and the brake lever. I prefer simple thumb throttles with no led meter and on/off button ...

Will a rear hub with a thread for a single speed freewheel fit in the front fork of a mountain bike with front suspension? I want to do a front wheel motor mount with a Currie style motor.

Re: innovative hub motor design epiphany.

But you have to remember to take into account the width of the tire and whether or not the bike has suspension. Last I checked wider tires and suspension tend to limit the damage done to rims via impacts during the course of regular use. My whole idea is based around ease of use and the ability to u...

Why do you guys keep blaming Obama for how screwed up everything is? The country was screwed up before he became president. Granted we've been limping along the last few years but at least we've "been" limping along. If Bush's cronies were in charge this whole time, Bin Laden would still be alive an...
