Re: innovative hub motor design epiphany.

Yeah I also was thinking about the bolt on idea to. I just think it would be easier and more interchangeable if the hub were to be threaded into the mag. One thing I forgot to mention about Chalo's original reply, They're hub motors, if we were too concerned about the weight of the wheel, we wouldn'...

Re: innovative hub motor design epiphany.

I know golden motor 20" wheel exists but it's one piece. Chalo, would my idea work with a spoked rim?

innovative hub motor design epiphany.

Okay let me explain. We all know how much of a pain in the butt hub motors and broken spokes can be. Well I think I've hit upon a solution. Why not thread the hub motor into a mag rim? Instead of eyelets on the hub for the spokes, make it a solid thick piece of metal and thread the top of it. Then y...

Re: I love it when my brain works.

Well it's a good thing this worked out. On an afternoon ride the throttle for my front hub kit fell apart. I don't have any extra throttles right now so I guess I was lucky/unlucky.

I love it when my brain works.

I bought one of these, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008ZTLYOE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I mounted it on my rear wheel. I attached my Currie style motor that has its own freewheel to my rear wheel. My motor chain lined up perfectly. Now I have a rear motor again and quick rele...

Re: FedEx goes Hybrid.

UPS has some full electric delivery trucks in operation already. I see one regularly rolling around my neighborhood and the surrounding area. I've also seen a couple of hybrid vehicles of theirs.

Currie carriers are awesome.

I just gave my cousin, who is about 150 lbs, a ride to an appointment. She was sitting on the carrier on the back of my bike and it held up great. She had her whole weight on it too because she had her feet resting on the mounts for the battery packs. We were also towing my touring trailer loaded wi...

Re: Outrage: Cop Who Killed Cyclist Not Facing Charges

Isn't anyone questioning the obviously strange questions. I mean look at who was killed, who he was killed by and what caused the accident. This seems kind of fishy to me. How does anyone know for a fact the officer was answering an email? Is there proof or even anyway he can prove it? Did they comp...

All I know is that there are a lot of houses near where I live that have gone solar. I've also seen three Leafs and two Volts driving around here not to mention all the freaking Prius-es everywhere.

That's okay, I used to go on bike rides with a sheriffs deputy who intentionally got drunk before we went and carried an 18 pack of beer in his backpack so he could keep drinking while he was riding.

Interesting seller on Amazon

I found an interesting battery seller on Amazon. If you just do a general search under "all" for "ePowerEngine", you get a huge listing of different varying battery packs for a lot of different uses. I know some of you guys break power tool battery packs down, so I thought this might be of interest ...

Re: Solar Power Cruiser - Terratrike

Imagine if you will how the top of a sprint car looks but with a peaked top and tilting forward. Yeah I was thinking about panels in series but the heat build up from too many watts running through the inverter also popped up in my head.

Re: Solar Power Cruiser - Terratrike

I thought more about it and I think 2 panels peaked and tilted forward would be a good idea. They'd be less likely to get buffeted badly from a headwind, crosswinds would slide over the peak and wind from the rear would be sort of caught by the tilted panels and act kind of like a sail. They'd also ...

Re: regen thought, probably wrong

No the hub motor would still be used as the primary motor. It's just when the battery for the hub kit gets discharged about 60% then start using the regen more constantly on the flats while having the Currie motor engaged. This way you still have a motor for assistance with pedaling and you're also ...

Re: will a laptop run on a 12v car battery?

You could try wiring smaller lead acid batteries in series to achieve the voltage you're looking for. Probably three 6V batteries in series. I'm talking the small lead acids that are used in kids' power wheels and such.

Re: Help with computer motherboard repair?

It could be your memory modules which would mean you would need a new mother board. I think you can get memory modules repaired but it'd be super expensive. I mention this because something similar happened to my mother board on a computer I owned a few years ago.

I found this on amazon, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008ZTLYOE/ref ... PEUCC05UGY. All you would need is a rear wheel hub with a 6 bolt disk mount. I'm actually thinking about buying one for me rear wheel. It comes in 16, 18 and 20 tooth.

Re: Using a Sturmey Archer Fixed Gear Hub

Is that hub still going to spin when not in use by the motor? I though a fixed gear had to be constantly pedaled? I'd love to do something like what you're talking about with my Currie kit. I have a 13 tooth freewheel on my motor; standard bike chain teeth. My wheel for the kit is out of commission ...
