Re: USPS and lithium batteries

As far as I know you just have to let them now and there might be a hazmat charge for it. When you go to pay for shipping in the post office, it actually shows up on the credit card machine.

Re: Does this performance make sense?

I used to have that same kit and my top speed was about 28 mph. The funny thing is that I also purchased the front version of the same kit and it was a lot slower closer to a little more than 20 mph. Sometimes I think they accidentally put the wrong motor in the kits seeing as how no matter the rati...

Re: Townie Go / Sram Service.... seriously guys.. come on !

The two chargers I have from bmsbattery.com are 3 pin but after opening up just the plug itself, the only connections in use are the +/-. The ground is just there but is not connected to anything. I had to open one up because it was making a rattling noise which turned out to be a stripped screw; I ...

Re: Connections for battery broke, please help with replacem

What I meant is that on the board there should be a negative sign next to one wire and a positive next to the other one where the wires connect to the board. If you do it my way you don't need to measure anything. It just helps you to determine which wire is positive and which is negative.

Re: Connections for battery broke, please help with replacem

You could always pop the charger open. Then look on the board and find where the blue/brown wires are on the board. One should be marked positive and the other negative, + and - signs. Those crappy RCA charge connections always seem to fail. In other words I had the same problem.

Re: We are a special bunch.. on ES..

There are many days when I feel like America has lost its will to create. So much consumption has made us fat and lazy. ES gives me the hope that there are at least a few of us with the desire to figure sh1t out, make something great, and do something good for the planet at the same time. Hey I'm f...

I've had major problems and spent thousands of dollars but I'm just to stubborn to quit. When it comes to my bike I'm about 90% DIY but everything else is pay someone else to do it. Well not exactly, I mow my own yard.

Re: How to build a high torque hub motor?

You could always just use 2 low speed hub kits on your bike. Front and rear. Have 2 separate throttles that way you can use either or, or both at the same time. I use 2 kits on my bike and I alone weigh about 305 lbs. My motors get me uphill at about 20 mph or more depending on the grade.

Re: Interesting Ceiling Fan Idea.

Unfortunately back in 1955 when my house was built, they put all the large trees along the edge of the street. Nobody on my street has any large trees in their yards. All the houses are right next to each other by about 8 feet so there is no where to plant a shade tree. There are a few oleanders pla...

Re: Interesting Ceiling Fan Idea.

"Ice packs". The plastic kind that are reusable. The little square/rectangular ones. The kind you stick in your lunch bag/container to keep your food cool. My refrigerator is in my kitchen. I spend most of my time in my room. We have an AC on our roof but it's undersized for our house. My room is on...

Interesting Ceiling Fan Idea.

I need to know if this would work. I was thinking of attaching some mesh baskets to the ends of my ceiling fan blades and putting ice packs in them. I figure if it works it would be cheaper than buying and running a room size AC unit. I'm also worried about condensation flying off the ice packs but ...

Re: Electric Bike Rider Dies After Dooring

When I'm riding past parked cars, I'm always looking for tail lights or into the windows to see if the vehicles are occupied. Even being careful I've had a couple of close calls. Even if I have the right of way at some blind intersections, I still slow down.

Got me a cheap bike computer

I went to Walmart and bought a wired Bell computer for $14.00 and some change today. I wanted to know how fast my bike is without breaking the bank. The no load speed on the front hub motor is 41.3 mph. Running both of my motors at full throttle I maxed out at 31.7 mph with me on the bike. It might ...

Re: higher bike gear for ebike

That's what's funny about my bike, it has a top speed of about 35 mph but only weighs about 50 lbs and it's dual motor. I can't do much about keeping pace with the pedals at top speed because the bottom bracket is too close so I can't go much higher than 48 teeth before it starts hitting the frame.

Here's a link to some charger ports: http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/charger-ports.html. Try to stick with the 3 prong 2 wire ports. You'll probably need the 3 prong male 2 wire paired with the 3 prong female 2 wire XLR plug.

Re: Neuton 5.1 Electric Mower... Possible Upgrades

I want an electric lawn mower so bad. My gas one likes to scare the crap out of me sometimes. It likes to back fire occasionally when I'm starting it up. Of course Mom's not gonna let me take it apart and use the chassis to make an EV mower. I don't even think it would be that hard. A couple of gear...

I think he was just riding with the seat too low for his height. His legs looked all bent out of shape while he was pedaling and that could make you feel wobbly.

Re: Best Direct Drive Kit

If you want to get a lot of torque, buy a 36V kit and run it at 48V. Get like a 700-800W kit. You may be able to use the stock controller in the kit if it has 60V caps. I believe I learned that from Dogman. I'm using a 36V 700W front hub kit with a 48V 450W controller and a 48V 10Ah battery pack. It...

You could probably run a 1000 watt plus motor and they wouldn't know the difference as long as you keep your speed at around 20 mph.

Re: What the hell is wrong with my bike?!

I had a similar problem so what I did was to zip tie the phase wires away from each other inside the triangle bag. I just poked a couple of small holes in the bag to have something to secure the zip ties to. The holes also let air into the bag. I recently changed my controller out for a different on...
