Mopeds in NC Now "Registered"

As of July 1, 2015, you must register a moped in North Carolina, and certify it's not a motorcycle. From the document http://www.ncdot.gov/download/dmv/VR_MVR1A.pdf here's the text: ***MOPED CUSTOMERS ONLY*** I attest to the following: (Must Initial) 1. This vehicle has two or three wheels, no exter...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Well.... i need to be honest about this motor :| It's now 80 degrees Fahrenheit here in Utah.. Doing 45mph for ~5 miles is now creating incredibly shocking amounts of heat.. I've seen 200C at the windings today   IMHO, I don't think you ruined your motor. Well, if you have, then I've rui...

Re: Power supplies for quick, silent NINJA charging

Quick comment just to "jiggle the thread": I bought two of the Meanwell HLG-340-48 power supplies (the ones with pigtails, which I think is the "C" variant). This product can produce 48v at almost 7 amps. They've been sitting, doing nothing much as I ponder switching DOWN from 18S to 12S. So I'm add...

Well, I have every intention of going to 24s. (this is why the new Lyen controller) However, recent circumstances (loss of a one cell in THREE LIPO BRICKS) has forced me to run at 50v for awhile. And guess what...it's not too bad. The bike can reach 32mph if allowed enough amps to keep the Crystaly...

Ain't Nobody Got Time fo dat!

Your research is vitally important to the community. You have discussed at length the behavior of this motor and especially the difference the thinner LAMS make. All I can think is how important the LEAFMOTOR could be to ebike performance events like a Pike's Peak hillclimb or what kind of possibili...

Re: 4500+ Miles US Ebike Tour - August 2014

A good option could be to have the cache material being carried by riders in the more rearward packs. That way when someone has a problem, the right tools or parts are not more than a day or so behind. If someone in a rearward pack has a problem and the cache is ahead of them, they are kind of scre...

Re: 4500+ Miles US Ebike Tour - August 2014

I imagine a "stash" of parts and supplies, positioned in an initial spot. The first pack would carry the stash forward to the next spot, where all the groups could benefit from the coverage of the stash. There's a cross country (or actually top to bottom since the country is only 9 miles wide in th...

Here's the next ebike XC route! http://www.randalolson.com/blog/ Not sure if it really is - I detect a few routes that are bad for ebikes near where I live, but I love the concept. I like it! I'm sure it would take some messaging to get the routes right for bikes, but it's worth a try. If Guinness ...

Re: Got a cheap chinese Lifepo4 bike battery today, now what

Create a tight fitting box around it using something fairly rigid. Leave only the side with the wires coming out open. I like to use the coroplast political signs, or for sale signs that are laying around free on the roadsides. Other good choices are Masonite, aluminum sheets, plastic sheet from a ...

Matt - totally amazing. That racking system you are using - is it the heavy-duty stuff you can get at the discount clubs and big-box hardware stores? I think it's called "Stout Rack" or something like it? Home Depot sells it under the "Husky" brand name: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-77-in-W-x-78...

I used to believe there was only one way. It's now clear to me we all need to find OUR bodies way. While I didn't buy into the genetic predisposition to diet, I do now firmly. I'm just hopelessly jealous that my body rebels at the intake of added fat, fat beyond what is in whole foods and vegetable...

Convince yourselves of “this or that” to make it go down easier but it really doesn’t take much effort to find legitimate academic data about what’s happening to those who consume high percentage of animal protein over a long period of time. Several decades, or more…. Good luck with that…. I get th...

This is a great post... and yeah, i knew a type 2 diabetic that would eat steak and eggs every day and lived to 85. He eventually died from COPD ( he was a heavy smoker ). That's a longer than average lifespan. India probably has the most vegetarians of all, but they also have an epidemic of heart ...

Re: how much cost to grid-tie?

The losses in small power supplies (wall warts) have changed over the years. You can get some idea by feeling the temperature of each one after it has been plugged in an hour or so. The warm ones are lossy and expensive to operate, the newer ones are not warmer than ambient and are not consuming mu...

I have the inverter, PV panels or wind turbine. How much would it typically cost to have an electrician make the connection from the inverter to the house 120vac? I have no idea if its $200 or 2000. Hey veloman: I've also put out requests for quotes to tie in my own solar panels and grid-tie invert...
