Re: how much cost to grid-tie?

The digital clock will cost you a lot more than the large hungry heating elements in the oven.....very easily power your very expensive digital oven clock! Rule of thumb of energy usage in a US home is 30% plug loads, 30% HVAC, 30% hot water. I measure/monitor in my own home and it's 20% plug loads...

It's a very "sweet" little video. "So Heart Touching".

Now where's the one with the evil looking dudes drifting that bad boy through a hairpin curve?!?!?

Re: Reviving old e-bike

Hi Learning Curve! I have one suggestion: using coroplast, make an "initial enclosure" to put around your Ping battery - something that fits very snug around it that you can close up with simple packing tape. I say this because it will protect your valuable Ping battery from dents and dings that cou...

Re: US ebike Tour 6000 miles 2014 and Documentary feedback

Hey guys, I have not given up, but the storms and winter left me with no time for blogging :) I am crossing Georgia now and getting to good weather. My wife wrote a blog post (short and with some good pictures) of our ride through Minnesota. Here is the link. http://www.camperclan.com/week-five-fal...

Re: Phat Bike Build

Someone had asked for a pic of the Phat Bike with the "tailbox" installed. Here it is, in all it's glory....the ends of that small tote are rounded off, very nice shape for a tailbox. interesting mount on the windscreen. Have you run it higher? Thats near 6" lower than mine. Tom - I have run it hig...

Re: Phat Bike Build

18S was a bit fast for commuting with my Cromotor and Lyen 24 FET controller, but with a Sabvoton sine wave controller (and no field weakening) it is just about right, the top speeds having dropped about 10mph. The smooth quiet operation and torque control is really nice. The jerky acceleration is ...

Well, I have every intention of going to 24s. (this is why the new Lyen controller) However, recent circumstances (loss of a one cell in THREE LIPO BRICKS) has forced me to run at 50v for awhile. And guess what...it's not too bad. The bike can reach 32mph if allowed enough amps to keep the Crystalyt...

100 miles in a day...

+1 to veloman. that's extremely studly.

And, also, a good spec for an ebike. I'm liking where the thread went...all good, all good....
So, I can get 40 out of mine. 50 if I'm lucky. I'll work on changing that....

Re: 4500+ Miles US Ebike Tour - August 2014

The only problem that I have with ebike touring is that I can do 100 miles in a day on an ordinary pedal bike without issue. So in order to justify ebiking, I want to go faster, and I want to go farther, and with more junk. 22mph, 150 mile days with full camping gear is worthwhile. Not to mention I...

Re: 4500+ Miles US Ebike Tour - August 2014

Well instead of worrying about batteries I took a 65 mile ride yesterday. Made a record (for me) 57 miles on my 48 volt 20 amp hour battery before I switched over at one bar. GREAT JOB, way-to-go man! So all in one fell swoop, you proved: 1) Wattwagon really does the job, 2) You got 57 miles on a 2...

I just purchased the 60V5A model (300W) for quick charge on the go. It's a bit bigger but reasonable: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311068842937?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT cwah that's one hell of a good find. I've been looking for same being sold here in the US, but no l...

Phat Bike Update: Windshield Mounting Bracket Broke..

I've been using the Phat Bike for once-weekly commuting to work. The positive impact to our weekly gas cost or vehicle maintenance has been undeniable. If I can use the Phat Bike for one commute trip plus a couple grocery trips or errands, I can end the week with 1/2 a tank instead of 1/8th a tank. ...

Re: Ebike/Moped Gang Cruise Video

The answer is yes, and that's part of the problem. There is well over a century of motorcycle design that we're all laughing at, and its going to bite some of us. At the same time electric drivetrain liberates frame design in really awesome ways. Agreed: seems to me there's lots of room for innovat...

....Much like many other ebikers, they have trouble keeping their bikes running and in one piece. It's not much different with the mopeds.
