Yes that is interesting. If they bring out the gx with the single shifting.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Where did you read this? I'm interested to learn more. I think the EX1 is a great concept. Strong, simple. Etc. Double shifting is a problem with 1x11 or 1x12. Who really needs 11 gears on an ebike.

I am sure the Dengfu site said Bafang M600 the other day, but now it is Shimano Motor... did anyone else notice this change? or am I dreaming?

Re: FREY eMTB with Bafang m600 is developing with your ideas!

I don't think you'll get the M600 motor and battery for $600USD.. Pretty sure SRAM EX1 is > $200USD as well... otherwise let me know where you're getting them and I can buy mine from there. But yeah you're correct, it's not a cheap exercise, but cheaper than big name brands, with hopefully equal qua...

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

well it's funny but when i first asked the question, before I saw that you tube video, it was actually the sound of the drive that first got me thinking about the similarity between tangent and TQ..

Anyway, it is nice to see various solutions to the reduction problem, all with great success.

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

slightly off topic. Do you know about TQ motors that are in the new Haibike Flyon? do you think they use a similar gear reduction to yours? I watched a vid, and it sounds 'similar'..

EDIT - Apparently it does... similar...

Re: FREY eMTB with Bafang m600 is developing with your ideas!

Id like to know if it really will be less nimble. It's only 10mm? Can anyone actually confirm after riding say a 475mm chain stay. Then jumping on a 460mm chain stay if there was a significant difference. I rode the eOne Sixty Merida and it was a wheelie machine. Very nimble but 439mm chain stay... ...

Re: FREY eMTB with Bafang m600 is developing with your ideas!

Turbo levo is 459mm RC length. This is 460mm which seems pretty good to me. I've seen many of the to brand name bikes anywhere between 440(Merida eOne sixty) up to 475mm (haibike) most between 450 and 470 though. I think it will handle just fine. It's not like it's super long like 530mm or anything....

So the controller is not turning off? I misunderstood. Will it could be a poor joint. In one of your connectors. See if you can measure the backs of the connectors with a multimeter

could be a single dead cell in the pack, causing the Low Voltage Cutoff on the Battery Management System to cut power to the entire pack. The battery voltage will read high (because most of the cells are still good, but that one bank is low.. Example for a 10S pack could be: 3.5, 3.5, 3.5, 3.5, 2.6,...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The biggest problem I had was removing the crank arms, the tool I bought ended up just removing the threads inside the crank on one side. Luckily I had a gear puller lying around and I was able to get it off with that. You have to make sure that the centre pin doesnt contact the square edge of the ...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

check the hubs for loose bearings, we bought some ebikes with Novatec hubs, and they were not particularly high-end, anyway, the slack in the hubs' bearings would deform the cassete alignment and result in chain jumping issues. New quality hub and cassette and problem is gone, with all of the identi...

I don't understand this. I thought controllers had current limiting. Therefore really they should never fail unless there is a manufacturing defect or reverse polarity or something.

Anyway, good luck.

Re: FREY eMTB with Bafang m600 is developing with your ideas!

fair call. But these motors are designed for mountain biking (generally speaking) and if you're climbing a mountain and riding back down again, usually there is a certain level of quality you need to ensure the components will not prematurely fail, or be unsafe. There are cheap forks, that might get...

Re: FREY eMTB with Bafang m600 is developing with your ideas!

It's not really the motor that defines the bike cost. In my experience suspension and drivetrain make up the bulk of the cost. For example. Consider around $500 for front suspension, $300 for rear suspension, $400 for drivetrain, and $200 for brakes.. there's half the cost right there. Then you have...

Are you still using the RST killah? and if yes, what do you think of the quality? I am considering RST Stitch, which are 180mm single crown versions of the same fork, but don't want something crappy

Re: FREY eMTB with Bafang m600 is developing with your ideas!

the big issue here is cost... sure you can develop something fully integrated but it costs more, and therefore you've lost a large chunk of customers. There are two types customers - those who want a stealth ebike who will pay a lot (aka they will buy a Specialised or a focus or german / French bike...
