Re: Advice Needed on my first eBike, I've owned it 1.5 month

Did a van water pump twice in one week once, only to find the real problem was a crack in the head gasket, right by the pump. Diving through that timing belt multiple times, what fun! Surely the dealer can help you out with a few spokes. Jasons not a bad dealer at all, but too bad you don't live in...

Re: Advice Needed on my first eBike, I've owned it 1.5 month

oh man, water pump. on my old honda you had to remove the timing belt to get to the pump, the bolts corroded in place, tiny bolt heads, one of the worst jobs. after i broke the torsion arm on my honda wagon, i thought i lost it, but in a last desperate attempt to get the torsion arm out, i ground o...

Re: Advice Needed on my first eBike, I've owned it 1.5 month

Well, bummer that you got the lucky controller. Shit happens, but on the bright side, you didn't have to return the stuff to china, wait for them to look at it oh, six months later, and get another controller to you after a year. Just the kind of situation that makes me tell you to spend a few bux ...

Re: Advice Needed on my first eBike, I've owned it 1.5 month

what kinda issue did you have with the the controller? do you use a lifepo4 battery or SLA? i assumed it worked for awhile and then you had problems happen or did it not work when you first plugged it in? I'm using a 48V 10Ah LiFePO4 from Goldenmotor. It worked for a test ride the night that I fini...

Advice Needed on my first eBike, I've owned it 1.5 months

I bought a 350W geared rear hub kit from e-bikekit.com for my first build about 1.5 months ago First, I had an issue with the controller that they sent to me after the first commute; ended up pedaling home 14 miles. They asked me to drive 30 miles to their nearest distributor to test it before they ...

Re: Geared hub are 15-25% more efficient than DD

Thanks Dogman Re: being difficult to hold down power, I can put out about 160-180w for about 20 mins so maybe less of a problem, but its also part of the reason why I'm looking at a lower powered motor (Cute Q100) From the graphs I've seen, motors are very inefficient below about 50% throttle, but ...

Re: Volts vs range?

If you really could do those two rides identically, you'd see little difference. But you wont. Maybe even cant, so the lower voltage method should go further. The difference might not be much, but there will be longer range from using less watts on the starts. If the difference was between 12s and ...

Re: FreezerWave, Appliance freezes food in one minute. [idea

I don't think there's anything that would work on the same principle. Microwaves excite the water molecules at the right wavelength. You'd have to figure out how to use a energy wave to suppress molecular excitation. Maybe, it could work, since it is possible to attenuate a sound wave with an out-of...

I thought the same thing!

But maybe that's the incremental portion. So 2 X 12V = 24V + 48V already = 72V total?

Re: What is the real world difference between battery C rate

I could be wrong, but as I understand it, your 15C rating is well more than enough for 6C draw. And, I believe that the 30C rating doesn't improve your performance, but will allow you to change it. So, if you got a controller that would pull more current and your motor can take that power, your batt...

Re: Car hit and run with bike, caught

I just witnessed a biker being hit this weekend. A guy was pulling out of the car dealer turning right and the young man on the bike was going against traffic on the sidewalk. Good thing that the kid only ended up with a scraped knee and a bent front wheel. I had my bike rack on the back of my car, ...

Sounds like a controller upgrade would be the easiest.

You are already running 48V. You could go more, but that would require battery investment.

That sounds logical since you have a 1200Wh battery. 960Wh at 80% DOD. That leaves 48Wh/mi @ 20mi.

What kind of speed are you at 48Wh? 35mph?

Re: Speedict Ebike - Anybody seen/tried this?

hi, can you show me your magnet installation ? The magnet is 12mm x 1mm Neodymium, The gap between the top of the magnet and the sensor is approximately 10mm. A thicker magnet (2mm) will give more flux, so would allow a bigger gap. I added the spacer behind the sensor before fitting the extra magne...

I bored out the hole on the magnet to fit my rear spokes with a hand drill, but I can't get a speed reading.

How close does the magnet need to be? And can I just put a larger rare earth magnet on it?
