Very nice video. You've got me seriously thinking about a solar trailer for some long distance touring.

Re: When ES members leave and delete posts

Check the dates on those posts. This is a really old topic. I have no clue about GDPR and whether it would apply to this forum since it's Canadian. Yeah, I noticed the dates of how old this was after I replied. Sorry for continuing to resuscitate an old thread. As I think about it more, I guess GDP...

Re: When ES members leave and delete posts

This thread's topic had me wondering if Craigsj was a citizen of the EU. If so, under the GDPR, he would have the right to request that all of his data be completely deleted. That was before fetcher explained what happened. Not to go too of topic, but out of curiosity, do the admins have a process f...

Re: Has anyone tried Bafang's 5v torque sensor?

Thank you so much for sharing that stancecoke, its really helpful. I think I'm starting to agree that the Sempu is the better unit in general. The sole exception being that this only needs 5v. Maybe this isn't an issue any more, but I seem to recall the Cycleanalyst having trouble with power load on...

Re: Mid Drive Motor changing gearing changes gear ratio?

The answer is yes and no. A mid drive motor will always have a fixed gear ratio between the actual motor and the chain ring—that never changes. However, when you shift gears, you are changing the ratio between the motor (and your pedals) RPM and the rear wheel RPM, which for a hub motor would be lik...

Re: Has anyone tried Bafang's 5v torque sensor?

There's a bafang sensor in this thread that uses 5v, but it does still require a controller that understands a torque sensor, or a cycleanalyst. viewtopic.php?p=1393179#p1393179

Re: Would you be willing to crowdfund ES development?

I never considered that. What makes bbpress/buddypress better than phpbb? Do you have an example forum you can show? Wordpress is also a monoculture and usually has serious unpatched security issues at any given time. Something that sits on it would have to be REALLY REALLY good in order for me to ...

Re: Any new ideas on a throttle with drop bars?

You can do a button throttle instead. Kepler came up with the system first, and I based my 3-button design on his original design. He now is working on a latched-button design that looks more advanced. If you decide to make the 3-button throttle I designed, be sure to follow all the edits and additi...

Re: Shimano and Brose new competing mid-drive motors

That belt tensioner on the brose motor looks like the same bad design that GNG was using on their dual-reduction mid drives. That thing ate belts for breakfast. I hope brose is using a better belt that can handle the deep pinch like that.

Re: Would you be willing to crowdfund ES development?

Why not take a look at bbpress for wordpress. There are several plugins that can import phpbb to bbpress. Once you have it in bbpress, there are other systems like buddypress that can import or work directly with bbpress. It seems to me like instead of developing our own encoders to convert the data...

If anyone is interested, there is a thread about this motor in a german forum, with many details, including internals: ... Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

I was just thinking that it would be cool if Grin could share an "ideal" voltage/wattage for the phaserunner. Maybe it would have to be tuned to motor rpm/v or something, but it would still be nice to have for reference.

Re: Which kit.. Stealth Geared hubs

IMO, the very hilly terrain and 300 lbs argue strongly for the mid drive. I'm skeptical that it will improve battery performance by much though. I generally have to agree with you there with the ride consideration. A clean tucked away install is one way to go stealth. Another is to hang a lot of st...

Re: New Generations of BB Torque Sensors (Bafang and Sempu)

Probably 3 of the wires are for the torque signal (input +, common -, and analogue torque signal out), and the others are for the cadence signal. Did the supplier not send you a connection diagram? If not, that's pretty slack! Contact them and ask for one. That's my suspicion as well regarding the ...
