I'm guessing your lipo can go more than 60A. Are you limiting it to 60A because of the VESC?

Check the wires. Separate them from one another if possible.

I'd try to bump it up to 8s first before giving up on the motor.

Flexible enclosure, with hinges to also easily open it and take out the battery.

Re: First Build Single Hub Motor Board Advice?

The easiest way to secure the stuffs on the board is to use Velcro strips. Put one on your deck or enclosure, or both, and then one on the ESC and the batteries. For the enclosure, you can use t-nuts and thumb screws. Drill a hole through your deck and install the t-nuts above. Then use thumb screws...

Re: First Build Single Hub Motor Board Advice?

Hey Paul, it's me. :) Although the motor's max amps is only 70A and your single 6s battery pack can provide a max of 100 amps (5ah x 20c), the Hobbyking packs specs are over-inflated. I would say that the pack can only provide 60A continuous. So it's better to get another pack and parallel connect t...

Re: Single HUB motor, VESC Loaded Dervish Build

The thing to look out for with a single drive and high voltage is the uneven braking. It's very pronounced if you're going very fast.

But with VESC you can set the rpm limit. Although I'm not sure it will work if you're "coasting" downhill at 30mph.

Re: 6S Hub Motor Electric Longboard w/ Wireless Meter!

Your Charger is the iMax B6, it's max charge power is 50 watts. Watts = Voltage x Amps. So the more voltage you are charging the lesser the amps, and vice-versa. You can only charge up to 5 amps for 10V or lower. The adapter is just for the iMax charger. You need to find a charger with charge power ...

@Dunkirk.

Check the switch wires, or replace the whole switch. The Xerun's switch is problematic. I've change a few on mine.

Never Summer's Heist Deck with Hub motor

Test fitting Never Summer's Heist 2015 with the Hub motors. This will be a light deck mainly for carving and transport. It will have just a Single Hub which is better for carving because the other wheel on the same axle is always freewheeling and power is always unevenly applied. Just wanted to know...

There is only one epoxy that I know that will work, 3M DP420. But this thing will make your wheels feel like a rock.

Fasteners are better.

Re: So I bought a lathe...and made Hub Motors

I have not ridden my Dual on 10s but when I briefly tried 12s, I went 27mph at 20A or 10A each motor. I was only halfway on the throttle.

Some that use my Dual Hubs with Enertion's 10s have not tripped the 40A fuse, although they ride on flatlands.

Re: Input sought on light, clean build

... What would be your guess about current needs with your single hub motor? The Enertion motor? What current can the motor safely use, on a sustained basis? Should I just give up on the idea of a single motor? My commute includes a ride on a (crowded) train, so I'd really like to keep it as light ...

Re: 6S Hub Motor Electric Skateboard!

The battery is 3s. If you use two of them and wire them in series, they will be 6s but their capacity will be the same. If you parallel them, then their capacity will double but they would remain only 3s. So to make it 6s and double the capacity, you would need 4 of them. And yes, you would need mor...

Re: Input sought on light, clean build

The tough part there is the mile-long climb. Climbing steep-ish but short hills is somewhat easy, as long as you get a lot of momentum before going up. But going up for a mile will suck the juice out of your battery, even if it's not that steep. And as your voltage goes down, you get slower and slow...

Re: Input sought on light, clean build

You could first start using Li-Poly, just to really know what max amps you will be reaching going up that hill on 12s. My guesstimate is that you "have" to use 12s3p if you are going to use 18650 cells because I think it will be over 40A.

Aside from adjusting the TH Trim, try re-calibrating the endpoints of the throttle. Also, try it without the reverse option, only forward and brake.

Well, I assumed that big wheels will need big E-bike motors and small wheels will be fine with small RC motors, so motors are not similar. Of course there will be lesser drag if you DD the small RC motor to the bigger bike whe...

Re: Dual VESC and battery case 3D Model

So awesome! I plan to do something similar with Never Summer Heist deck. I think you can do a drop-through without bite if the deck has camber. Although I plan to do it only on a Single Hub because the flexy deck and faster speed of the Dual Hubs will be unstable. Also aiming for a lighter board. I ...
