Re: OpenSource firmware BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT controllers STM8

Thanks for the feedback. Can you please share with us some information, so we can understand better your needs: 1. can you please tell us why are you interested to use the firmware? 2. what bicycle type do you have, what is the kind of usage? 3. which motor, battery pack voltage? 4. do you use thro...

Re: OpenSource firmware BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT controllers STM8

I also have been watching this thread with great interest and would like to add my congratulations to you guys on your efforts so far. Will definitely be trying your firmware sometime in the future, I'm no coder but can usually follow instructions to get these things loaded up and working. Just a sm...

Re: 2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

Looking at the failed gear there's very little wear on the teeth, seems to be just fatique fractures at the root of the teeth. I'm no materials specialist but that kind of degrading of the plastic looks very similar to the effects of lube attacking the material. Lube issues have much discussed in t...

Re: Repairing Meanwell Power Supplies

Just had another Q3/4 go down on one of these S-400-48 units, this time in normal operation unlike my previous fail in this thread. The problem was low o/p, I'd set the current limit on this supply to around 6 amps (at 48v) but it wouldn't o/p above 1.5 amps. The fail mode was partial short c-e, the...

Re: BBS01 Changes

Not sure if the information is of any use but the firmware version of my new (i.e. 'laggy') BBS02 is V2.0.1.1 My previous (i.e. 'less laggy') BBS02 is V1.0.0.1 Does that equate with the BBS01? I found with the earlier version there was a tendency to a pulsing or stuttering feel to the motor drive un...

Re: BBS01 Changes

The new bbs02 I have replaces an old 24v brush motor setup I was running. Although the controller on this had a brake cutoff input I never actually used it and the throttle response was instant and made for much safer riding. In slow riding situations where I had lent the bike over a bit too far I c...

Re: BBS01 Changes

Hi Niall, I've just recently fitted a new BBS02 and have noticed something similar to what you describe (compared to an earlier BBS02 on another bike I have). I notice it mostly after a brake cutoff, seeming to take an age before the throttle is re-enabled. This can really catch you out if you brake...

Eclipsebikes (UK stockist) have them in stock for around £370 - looks like they'll ship to Europe.

Re: New Bafang Crank-Drives

The trip meter tends to be my fuel gauge, I know my 12s 10ah lipo's will take me 22 lazy miles (35km) so I reset the trip at every charge, this then tells me how far I've got left in the battery. A bit basic I know, but it works well enough for me - I suspect many others use a similar method. You ca...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

Thanks, having once pulled some of my lipo's down to well under 2V (down to range optimism on my part...) I think I'll have to rig up something similar.

The lipo's seemed to survive their workout, I haven't noticed any detrimental effects since (yet..!).

Unread postby Geebee » Thu Jan 29, 2015 5:09 am You dont need to see the cell meter/alarms, they have a very loud piezo alarm that goes off when the preset voltage is reached by any cell. I ride with mine tucked in the battery bag. ....just wondered how you work these, do you have to plug them in a...

Postby marcexec » Sun Jan 11, 2015 8:23 pm Cool, thanks for sharing. I'll have another go at the 2 USP-500s I broke at some point :) ....they look quite different beasts from the S and SP series stuff that many of us seem to delight in exploding. Did you manage to find a circuit diagram for them?

Postby marcexec » Fri Jan 09, 2015 8:02 am Well done! How did you figure out which to replace? Re: Repairing Meanwell Power Supplies

Just managed to get my S-400-48 MW clone unit working again after stupidly connecting to a battery with the current limiter set to max. Saw the current on the wattmeter rocket to well over 20 amps and rising, made a grab for the mains switch but the pyrotechnic display quickly told me I was too late...

Re: New Bafang Crank-drives

My question is about the jerky / stuttering / putt putt / at low speed. is this normal? is there a way to minimise it? or just suck it up and get used to it. Yes, mine also had this annoying pulsing effect on PAS when I first tried it, I've now played around with the programming and seem to have pr...

Just finished installing my BBS02 V2 and gave it a quick 5 mile test around the local cycle paths - yep, these things are good.
